Shinedown becomes the first act to top all four Billboard rock album charts since the renovation of the Top Rock & Alternative Albums ranking last month, as Planet Zero debuts atop the tallies dated July 16.
The set starts with 50,000 equivalent album units earned in the July 1-7 tracking week, according to Luminate. Of that sum, 43,000 are via album sales.
Shinedown now boasts four rulers on Top Hard Rock Albums, plus three each on Top Rock & Alternative Albums, Top Rock Albums and Top Alternative Albums. Each of the band’s last four full-lengths has led Top Hard Rock Albums, starting with 2012’s Amaryllis and followed by 2015’s Threat to Survival and 2018’s Attention Attention; each except Survival (No. 2) crowned the other three charts.
On the all-genre Billboard 200, Planet Zero swoops in at No. 5, marking Shinedown’s fifth top five title. Its highest-charting, Amaryllis, hit No. 4.
The band also rules the all-genre Top Album Sales chart for the first time; the new set exceeds the No. 2 peak of Attention.
Concurrently, Planet Zero impacts Billboard‘s multi-metric rock-genre song charts, led by “Daylight,” which debuts at No. 25 on Hot Alternative Songs and re-enters Hot Rock & Alternative Songs at No. 36 (after debuting at its prior No. 34 high on the June 18-dated chart). “Daylight” earned 2.2 million radio audience impressions and 879,000 official U.S. streams July 1-7.
Additionally, the Planet Zero title track jumps 18-7 on Hot Hard Rock Songs (after peaking at No. 4 in February) and re-enters Hot Rock & Alternative Songs at No. 44 with 940,000 streams. The set’s “Dysfunctional You” also debuts on Hot Hard Rock Songs at No. 23 (502,000 streams); previously, the album’s “The Saints of Violence and Innuendo” appeared on the chart for a week, at No. 14, in April.
“Daylight,” the current radio single from the album, bullets at its No. 8 best on Mainstream Rock Airplay and leaps 20-13 on Rock & Alternative Airplay. In addition to its mainstream rock radio success, the song is bubbling under Alternative Airplay. “Planet Zero” ruled Mainstream Rock Airplay for eight weeks and achieved peaks of No. 5 on Rock & Alternative Airplay and No. 36 on Alternative Airplay.
