Well, that Thursday was NOT what I thought it would be!

Well, I didn’t exactly plan on a trip to the ICU, but life tossed me a surprise. I just thought I was really tired …but, it turned into three nights in the hospital ICU thanks to a critically low sodium level. Who knew salt could be such a big deal? One minute I was napping , and the next I was being awakened by a phone call from my doctor. I head to urgent care and was rushed to the ER and then onto ICU being hooked up to machines, getting more attention than I bargained for. Let’s just say it wasn’t on my calendar, but apparently my body had other plans.

As stressful as it all was, those three nights gave me a whole new appreciation for the simple things—like actual sleep, a normal meal, and being able to walk out of the hospital on my own two feet. The doctors and nurses were SO amazing. My family kept me going and my friends filled me with encouragement and laughs. I can laugh a little about it, but I’ve also learned that listening to your body isn’t just good advice—it’s a non-negotiable. I’m on salt pills and some liquid restriction! Plus, I am adding some meat back into my life — this I can’t believe after sixteen years. Oh, and I’ll never look at my cankles the same way again!
