THE OFFICE Turns 20!

Blog by: Chris Louzader

The Office is pure comedic gold in television form A show that has only grown more beloved over time. As it celebrtes its 20-year anniversary, its charm, awkward humor, and unforgettable characters continue to bring endless laughter to fans old and new. There’s something magical about discussing Michael Scott’s ridiculous antics, Dwight’s bizarre but brilliant logic, or Jim’s perfectly executed pranks with coworkers—it’s the kind of show that makes any real-life office feel just a little more entertaining. Whether you’re reliving the cringe-worthy dinner party or debating the best cold open, The Office remains a show that brings people together through humor!

There was almost a tragedy in the Louzader house. I almost didn’t watch this show. I missed it during its original network run. Then, I finally got with the program, it couldn’t have come at a better time. I had just finished the deeply intense and emotional The Handmaid’s Tale and then attempted to watch Tiger King—which, after one episode of that chaotic disaster, sent me running in search of something SO MUCH better. Thankfully, I landed on The Office, and from the first awkward moments at Dunder Mifflin, I was hooked. Don Louzader TOO! The sheer joy this show brings is unmatched. I’ve probably watched each season at least three times, and it never gets old. No matter how many times you revisit it, it still feels like coming home to old friends.

PS … funny thing about this photo with John Krasinski … it was taken at The Critics Choice Awards in 2019 … I hadn’t watched The Office yet AT ALL! Thank goodness I wised up!

Spring Has Sprung

Kevin

It’s Finally here. It’s officially springtime. See ya later winter. Don’t let the door hit ya. I really enjoy the change of seasons and here are the things I like the most about it.

*Open all the windows and get the dog smell out. That’s right, we have three dogs and sometimes it gets a little stuffy in the house.

*We don’t have to constantly run the heat or the AC. It ain’t cheap!

*Watch my wife get the pool in the backyard ready. Yeah, baby, yeah!

*Spend time on the back deck watching the dogs, birds, squirrels and other backyard wildlife. Especially in the mornings with my coffee.

*Break out the grill for some burgers and dogs.

*Baseball! Hey batta batta batta!

Spring Break Story!

Blog by: Chris Louzader

Spring break!  A time of partying?  My sad story … I never went on a wild trip.  While other students jetted off to the beach or road-tripped with their friends, I was home … it was just too expensive to go anywhere. Luckily, some my friends were in the same boat, so instead of wild adventures, we spent our days hanging out in my backyard. My family had a pool, which became our default destination—not because it was glamorous, but because it was free.

While some people were partying on the sand, I was skimming leaves out of the water, adjusting the chlorine, and making sure the filter didn’t clog. It wasn’t exactly the carefree break I imagined. We made the best of it, lounging in the sun, blasting music, staying up late, sleeping in.  We made due with just a tinge of that feeling that we were missing out. When school started again, we had no exciting stories to share—just another spring break spent in the same place!  If you went on a cool Spring break … GOOD for you!  If you were in my boat, we made it.  Happy Spring!

Kiss Me I’m Irish…

Well, a little bit Irish, but aren’t we all on St. Patty’s Day.

Kevin…

Back in the mid to late 90’s I enjoyed riding in Jay Nicholson’s big green convertible Cadillac at the front of the Springfield St. Patrick’s Day Parade. (R.I.P. Jay). Man, it was a good time. The boys from Culley’s Pub were running out pitchers of green beer and everybody was having a great time. Maybe a little too good of a time, if there is such a thing. I think it’s definitely the best parade of the year. I’m glad to see it back.

St. Patrick’s day is fun because there are so many ways to celebrate. With or without the green beer. For instance, I like a good corned beef and cabbage. It’s not for everybody, but if it’s cooked right…Mmm Mmm. Actually, it’s not a traditional Irish dish. It was invented right here in the U.S.A.

You can find a four leaf clover for good luck.

Listen to some Irish music like U2, the Cranberries or Van Morrison. Then there’s the real stuff like the Chieftains, the Clancy Brothers or the Dubliners.

Get some Irish Potatoes for the kids. They love them. They’re not potatoes at all, but candy made with cream cheese, coconut and covered with cinnamon. Yum!

However you plan to celebrate, make sure you wear green so you don’t get pinched and maybe you’ll even catch a real live leprechaun like my kids did one year. He might lead you to the pot of gold.

Have a great St. Patrick’s Day and may the luck of the Irish be with you.
