And, The Oscar Goes To…

Blog by: Chris Louzader

I’ve always had a deep love for movies—the storytelling, the performances, and the magic that unfolds on screen. Watching films isn’t just a hobby; it’s a big screen experience I LOVE. I enjoy analyzing movies, sharing my thoughts through reviews, and diving into the excitement of awards season.

As the nominations roll in, I track the buzz, debate the frontrunners, and craft my own predictions. Leading up to the big night, I love discussing the hits, surprises, and snubs before finally announcing my final picks. For me, movies aren’t just entertainment—they’re a passion I love to share.

I’d like to share my final Academy Award predications!

Best Picture:  CONCLAVE

Best Actor:  Timothee Chalamet / A COMPLETE UNKNOWN

Best Actress:  Demi Moore / THE SUBSTANCE

Best Supporting Actor: Kieran Culkin / A REAL PAIN

Best Supporting Actress: Zoe Saldana / EMILA PEREZ

Hooray for Hollywood!

Snow Jam ’25

Kevin…

Well, it was a heck of a week with the snow and extreme cold. We didn’t get as much of the white stuff as they predicted but it was still enough to be a pain in the butt. The only people that loved it were the kids and the penguins. The kids got the week off of school and the penguins at Wonders of Wildlife got some time outside. (I would of made a run for it if I was a penguin, but they were chill.)

I do think it’s pretty when it snows and i enjoy a change of seasons, but the older I get the more annoyed about it i get. It’s the driving and dealing with the grocery store and the freezing my butt off when I have to do something outside. Some folks enjoy it though. The young ones who were out of school were loving it. It was a fluffy snow and good for sledding and snowball fights. Mo. State students had a pretty good snowball fight going.

If you enjoy the snow, we’re glad you got a big dump of it. If you get annoyed by it…don’t fret , it’s almost spring. Supposed to hit the 60’s next week. You know what they say about the Ozarks. Stick around for a day or two and the weather will change. Let us know if you enjoyed snow jam ’25. Post on the Kevin and Chris in the morning page on Facebook, or leave us a voice message on the 987TheDove app.

The yyBreakfast Club is 40!

Blog by: Chris Louzader

Of course I LOVE movies!  And, a BRAT PACK movie is classic and full of memories. THE BREAKFAST CLUB is celebrating its 40th anniversary as one of the great defining classics of the 1980s, capturing the raw emotions, struggles, and identity crises of teenage life.  THE BREAKFAST CLUB was released in 1985, John Hughes’ coming-of-age masterpiece brought together five high school students from different social cliques—each with their own insecurities and pressures—who discovered that they weren’t so different after all.

For those of us who grew up with it, the film was more than just a movie; it was a mirror reflecting the complexities of our own adolescence, the need for connection, and the desire to be understood beyond labels. Its iconic moments, heartfelt conversations, and the unforgettable Simple Minds anthem, DON’T YOU (Forget About Me), still resonate decades later, reminding us that, deep down, we all carry a bit of the brain, the athlete, the basket case, the princess, and the criminal within us.

Celebrate THE BREAKFAST CLUB with a rewatch or a first time watch.  And, celebrate YOUR youth!

Puppy Bowl 2025

Kevin…

The Chiefs vs Eagles isn’t the only big game this weekend. The 21st annual Puppy Bowl will be live from New York on Sunday at 1pm. This year’s matchup includes over 140 pups ready to compete for the Lom”bark”y trophy. The matchup is Team Ruff vs Team Fluff and they will be competing to get adopted by fanatical viewers like us. All of the participants are shelter and rescue puppies looking for a good home.

The field includes puppies from 40 states including Missouri. Three of them representing the “Show Me” state are…Charlotte, a cocker spaniel. Mardi-Paw, a poodle and great pyrenees mix and Astro, a beagle and boarder collie mix. We’ll be rooting for these guys for sure!

We have three rescue dogs at our house and believe me, they keep us on our toes. They never got to play in a puppy bowl, but they are still championship mutts to us. Start time for the puppy bowl is 1pm. You can watch it on Animal Planet, The Discovery Channel or TBS.
