One person was injured when shots were fired during an argument between two groups of people at the Oklahoma State Fair on Saturday (Sept. 23), sending a crowd of people running for safety, police said.
One person was arrested on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon after the evening shooting, Oklahoma City police Lt. Jeff Cooper said Sunday. Police initially took two people into custody but Cooper said one of them was later released.
Police have not yet released the suspect’s name.
The injured person was taken to the hospital and remained in critical condition Sunday, police said.
The shooting happened at an event center on the fairgrounds. Capt. Valerie Littlejohn said that after the initial shooting, someone fired some rounds into the air as people started running.
Guns are prohibited on the fairgrounds, and there are security and detectors at entrances, police said.
Motley Crue‘s Vince Neil, on the Saturday night lineup with an 8 p.m. start time, was mid-performance at the fair’s nearby Chickasaw Country Entertainment Stage when the incident occurred. He wrote about the alarming experience on his X (formerly Twitter) account Sunday afternoon.
“At a concert in Oklahoma City Crazy night last night. 3/4 of the way thru the set people started running,” Neil said. “We were told to get in [the] dressing room. There were shooters shooting people.”
“Thank you fans for your understanding,” he added, addressing those who were at the fair and didn’t get his full set.
In another message, Neil wrote, “Thankfully we are all okay! Thanks to everyone who came out. Please stay safe!”

Immediately following news about headlining the 2024 Super Bowl Halftime Show presented by Apple Music, Usher sat down with Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe to discuss exclusive details about his upcoming performance.
The Grammy-winning R&B icon will take the stage at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium on Feb. 11, 2024, marking the city’s first time hosting the big game.
“It is definitely going to be a moment to remember,” Usher, 44, told Lowe live from Paris, where he’s launching a brief residency at La Seine Musicale. “This is the most grand stage to ever play on. Those 13 minutes mean everything. It’s been on my bucket list for a long time.”
On that same day, Usher will also release his ninth album, Coming Home, the follow-up to his 2016 album, Hard II Love, which peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200. He also teamed up with Zaytoven for the eight-track project, A, in 2018.
Coming Home will feature the Atlanta native’s previous 2023 release “Good Good,” featuring Summer Walker and 21 Savage, which reached No. 12 on Billboard‘s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop songs chart. The set is currently available for pre-order on Apple Music.
Taylor Swift is watching Sunday’s Chiefs-Bears game from the comfort of Travis Kelce’s suite.
Rumors swirled on social media that Swift would be attending the Sept. 24 Kansas City Chiefs vs. Chicago Bears game just before kickoff, with Bleacher Reportposting the tip about where she’d be seated. Rumors of a romance between the two have also been running rampant.
Cameras were quick to show Swift with Kelce’s mother as soon as the “Anti-Hero” singer was spotted. A few moments of Swift — who was wearing a Chiefs jacket and enthusiastically cheering alongside Donna Kelce — were broadcast for all to see.
Within the first half hour of the game, Swift was shown on camera again, grabbing Donna’s arm in a reaction shot.
Later in the game, Swift and the suite crowd went wild when Kelce scored a touchdown. Jumping up and down, Swift appeared to shout, “Let’s f—ing go!” — as seen in the video at the end of this article.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end revealed that he invited Swift to watch him play in an interview on The Pat McAfee Show on Thursday. “I threw the ball in her court,” Kelce revealed. “I told her, ‘I’ve seen you rock the stage in Arrowhead, you might have to come see me rock the stage in Arrowhead.’ We’ll see what happens in the near future.”
He also addressed the amount of attention a potential relationship between the pair has already received. “It’s hilarious how much traction this has actually got. I think it’s, right now, it’s like that old game in school called ‘Telephone,’ where everybody is just whispering in each other’s ear, just hearing some random stuff,” he said.

Rod Wave captures his third No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart (dated Sept. 30) as his latest release, Nostalgia, opens atop the tally. The set bows with 137,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Sept. 21, according to Luminate — the rapper/singer’s biggest week yet by units earned. Nearly all of the album’s first-week sum was driven by streaming activity of the set’s 18 tracks.
The artist previously led the Billboard 200 with his last two full-length projects, Beautiful Mind (2022) and SoulFly (2021). He’s only the second artist, following Taylor Swift, to have notched a new No. 1 album in each of the last three years. In total, Nostalgia is his sixth top 10-charting effort — the entirety of his entries on the Billboard 200.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. The new Sept. 30, 2023-dated chart will be posted in full on Billboard‘s website on Tuesday (Sept. 26). For all chart news, follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram.
Of Nostalgia’s 137,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Sept. 21, SEA units comprise 135,000 (equaling 187.51 million on-demand official streams of the set’s 18 songs — the third-largest debut streaming week for an R&B/hip-hop album in 2023), album sales comprise 1,500 (it was only available to purchase as a digital download album) and TEA units comprise 500.
Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts falls to No. 2 after debuting atop the tally, as the set earned 134,000 in its second week (down 56%). Four more former No. 1s round out the top six, as Zach Bryan’s self-titled album is a non-mover at No. 3 (79,000; down 17%), Morgan Wallen’s One Thing at a Time is stationary at No. 4 (76,000; down 3%), SZA’s SOS rises 6-5 (53,000; up 17%) and Travis Scott’s Utopia falls 5-6 (47,000; down 16%).
Peso Pluma’s Génesis is steady at No. 7 (46,000 equivalent album units; up 7%), Swift’s chart-topping Midnights stands still at No. 8 (42,000; up 1%) and Wallen’s former leader Dangerous: The Double Album holds at No. 9 (38,000; down 2%). The Barbie film soundtrack closes out the top 10, as it steps 11-10 with 36,000 units (down 4%).

In addition to his new album, Usher will take the stage at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium to perform the 2024 Super Bowl Halftime Show. “It’s an honor of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list. Ms. Lauryn Hill, one of the headliners at the 2023 Global Citizen Festival, brought out Wyclef Jean and Pras for a surprise Fugees reunion in New York City’s Central Park on Saturday (Sept. 23). The formally dormant trio is back again on Hill’s ongoing 25th anniversary tour celebrating her Grammy album of the year-winning debut, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.

Despite persistent sheets of rain badgering the crowd through the event’s six-hour runtime, Global Citizen attendees were captivated when Ms. Lauryn Hill took the stage to deliver a satisfying helping of Miseducation, from the timely “Everything Is Everything” (“change, it comes eventually” is a fitting rejoinder to any doubters of the organization’s cause to end global poverty and tackle climate change) to “Ex-Factor” to “Doo Wop (That Thing).” Hill’s voice remains rich and resonant when she sings and fierce and dexterous when she spits; watching her, you find yourself alternating between joyous sing-alongs and immobile, mouth-agape moments.
Following six tracks from her 1998 debut, Hill brought out her Fugees bandmates for four of the group’s best loved songs. The trio ripped through “How Many Mics” with a fervor that made the wet ground seem to disappear from beneath your feet, and the ecstasy continued with a masterful reading of “Ready or Not.” “Killing Me Softly With His Song” brought the crowd back to reality in a beautiful way, with people sharing in the communal joy of experiencing an all-time classic surrounded by Manhattan’s iconic skyline at night (even if the tips of the skyscrapers disappeared into the storm clouds). After that, the trio trotted through a victory lap of “Fu-Gee-La” before exiting the stage ahead of Red Hot Chili Peppers’ set.
This isn’t the first time the Fugees have spiced up Global Citizen with a reunion. The trio delivered “Ready or Not” during Hill’s 2021 set at the festival, which was one of their first performances together in 15 years. And it was far from the only surprise at Global Citizen Festival’s 2023 edition: Jung Kook brought out unannounced guest Latto for a high-energy performance of their Hot 100 topper “Seven”; plus, just before the Fugees rocked the stage, Harlem DJ/producer D-Nice put together an all-star salute to #HipHop50, with genre pioneer Big Daddy Kane, rising star Rapsody, mic destroyer Busta Rhymes and legendary wordsmith Common celebrating hip-hop in the city that spawned it.
The 2023 edition of the fest was its most sustainable yet, with the stage made entirely out of repurposed and recycled materials, and the all-vegetarian menu coming with fully compostable packaging and utensils, among other initiatives. Global Citizen – which works to end extreme poverty, combat climate crisis and promote equity – began holding free, ticketed concerts in New York City in 2012 and has expanded to stages around the world, including the Power Our Planet concert in Paris in June.
“Farm Aid is Earth Aid,” declared Neil Young, succinctly summarizing the role which the festival has taken on since 1985, focusing on how family farmers can help address the climate crisis, while also offering hours of extraordinary music Saturday (Sept. 23) at Ruoff Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana.
With an acoustic set which opened with “Comes A Time” and closed with “Heart of Gold,” Young returned to the Farm Aid stage after sitting out the festival in 2021 or 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic; the 2020 event was presented online.
This year’s Farm Aid took place against the backdrop of discussions in Washington, D.C., over renewal by year’s end of the multi-part, multibillion dollar Farm Bill, which has a massive influence on how the nation’s food is grown. Farm Aid has joined more than 150 organizations in co-signing a letter to President Joe Biden demanding that Congress pass a Farm Bill that addresses economic inequality, racial justice and the climate crisis. Farming practices that sequester carbon in the soil are part of the answer to that crisis.
Farm Aid’s leaders were joined on Saturday’s bill by the Grateful Dead’s Bobby Weir & the Wolf Bros. featuring the Wolfpack, Lukas Nelson, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, Allison Russell, The String Cheese Incident and Particle Kid. Also: Clayton Anderson, The Black Opry featuring Lori Rayne, Tylar Bryant and Kyshona, the Jim Irsay Band, featuring Ann Wilson of Heart, Native Pride Productions and the Wisdom Indian Dancers.
Here are the greatest moments from the 38th annual Farm Aid.
Usher will headline the 2024 Super Bowl Halftime Show presented by Apple Music, during the game set to take place Feb. 11, 2024.

Usher Announces ‘Coming Home’ Album Release Date Amid Super Bowl Halftime Show News
“It’s an honor of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list. I can’t wait to bring the world a show unlike anything else they’ve seen from me before,” Usher said in a statement. “Thank you to the fans and everyone who made this opportunity happen. I’ll see you real soon.”
Usher has also announced that his ninth album, Coming Home, will arrive arriving on Super Bowl Sunday. This set marks his first new album since 2016’s Hard II Love, which peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200. The new album will feature his previous 2023 release “Good Good,” featuring Summer Walker and 21 Savage.
During his career, Usher has 18 amassed top 10 hits on the Hot 100, including nine No. 1s, with songs like “U Got It Bad,” “Yeah!” feat Lil Jon and Ludacris, “My Boo” with Alicia Keys and “OMG” feat. will.i.am., which will surely ramp up the speculation around who may come out as a special guest alongside him. He also has four No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 to his name across his career.
“Usher is an icon whose music has left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape throughout his career, we couldn’t be more excited to have him headline this year’s Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show,” said Seth Dudowsky, the head of music for the NFL, in a statement. “We look forward to working with Usher, Roc Nation and Apple Music to bring fans another Halftime Show for the history books.”
“Usher is the ultimate artist and showman. Ever since his debut at the age of 15, he’s been charting his own unique course. Beyond his flawless singing and exceptional choreography, Usher bares his soul,” JAY-Z said in a statement. “His remarkable journey has propelled him to one of the grandest stages in the world. I can’t wait to see the magic.”
This will also mark the second year that the halftime show will be presented by Apple Music, after a decade of Pepsi sponsorship. The Rihanna performance in 2023 — during which the superstar revealed she was pregnant with her second child with A$AP Rocky — was the most-watched halftime show of all time.
“The Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show is one of the most highly anticipated music events of the year and we’re excited to bring this legendary show to fans all over the world in Spatial Audio, along with tons of exclusive videos, interviews, playlists and so much more across Apple Music,” Apple’s vp of Apple Music, Apple TV+, sports and Beats Oliver Schusser said in a statement. “We are so proud of what we were able to accomplish together with the NFL and Roc Nation last year and now with the insanely talented Usher set to take the stage we’re looking forward to another incredible Halftime Show from one of the world’s all-time greatest performers.”
The show will be produced by DPS, with executive producers Roc Nation and Jesse Collins, and will be directed by Hamish Hamilton.
“My dream is to play small theaters in England…This has gone way beyond,” says Ed Sheeran to a sold-out SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif. on Saturday night (Sept. 23).
Indeed, playing to a record-breaking 81,000 fans – the most tickets the venue has sold for a one-day event – is staggering. But the show itself is just as surprising. Sheeran commands the stadium all on his own, accompanied primarily by his five loop stations and various guitars. And while he is occasionally joined by a band, a first for his tours, his biggest collaborator is arguably the stage itself.
Surrounded by six smaller stages (from which the band played) with guitar pick-shaped screens hanging above each one, Sheeran stands alone in the center of it all, on a circular and spinning stage. Complete with a rotating ring (that looks much like a treadmill in track form) and retractable stairs, it seems to move and breathe in perfect harmony with Sheeran – and that’s no small task, as the artist seemingly never stopped moving, demonstrating the agility and stamina of a boxer in the ring.
For the following two-plus hours, he delivers his own version of an Eras Tour, performing songs off each of his mathematical equation-named albums – +, ×, ÷ =, − – as well as a medley of hits from No. 6 Collaborations Project and even a special, and seemingly spontaneous, live debut off his forthcoming release Autumn Variations.
Sheeran often reminds the crowd that it’s been five years since he last toured America, during which he’s only accumulated more hits and sharpened his vocals, musicianship and mental agility. And while he has always performed on his own, doing so for over 80,000 people felt particularly impressive – as were these five moments from the set.
