Jimmy Buffett’s Daughter Delaney Pens Touching Tribute to Late Singer: ‘I Will Love You Forever’

As the music industry continues to mourn Jimmy Buffett — who died at 76 on Sept. 1 — his daughter Sarah “Delaney” Buffett shared some thoughts about her late father, how he handle the cancer he ultimately succumbed to and the legacy he left behind.

“I knew my dad my whole life but in his final days, I saw who he was: a man whose spirit could not be broken,” her message, posted Wednesday (Sept. 6), began. “Despite the pain, he smiled everyday. He was kind when he had every excuse not to be. He told us not to be sad or scared, but to keep the party going. And as much as I’d like to use that as an excuse to drink myself into oblivion worthy of his literary heroes, I know it’s not what he meant. Yes, he loved his weed and his wine, but the truth is, most of the time, he was just high on life, and that is what he wanted for everyone: to enjoy the fantastic trip that life can be.”

The 31-year-old then shed light on Buffett’s relationships with his medical team. “My dad repeatedly told us how much he appreciated the doctors, nurses, and every person who was there for him during his battle with cancer,” she continued. So to those who took care of my dad at home and in the hospital, I want to thank you for giving us more time together. I am eternally grateful.”

After thanking friends, fans and family for their well wished amid her father’s death, Delaney extended a final thank you to her father for giving her a life that wouldn’t have been possible without his career to support them. “Finally, to my dad, thank you. You turned nothing into something and gave me everything. I will never be able to repay you or my mom for my beautiful life. I will love you forever, and I will always keep the party going (responsibly, of course).”

The “Margaritaville” singer’s death was revealed via his official website and social media accounts. “Jimmy passed away on the night of September 1st surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs,” read the statement. “He lived his life like a song till the very last breath and will be missed beyond measure by so many.”

Buffet’s cause of death was revealed to be skin cancer.

Pomme de Terre Wastewater Issue Drawing Concern

This story courtesy of Carissa Codel of OzarksFirst.com-

A public hearing between the Department of Natural Resources and those concerned for the Pomme de Terre River is being scheduled after multiple questions were raised about a slaughterhouse potentially polluting the river.

Pleasant Hope residents want answers about Missouri Prime Beef Packers’ proposal to dump 350,000 gallons of treated wastewater into local waterways each day.

“There’s a correct way to treat your waste,” said John Bledsoe, a member of the Missouri Stream Team. “I think that dumping it in the river is a shortcut.”

Missouri Prime Beef Packers is hoping to use a new technology called iLeaf to treat the waste before disposing of it in the Pomme de Terre River.

“When we talk about significant degradation, that was a word that was questioned a lot,” said Water Pollution Control Branch Chief Heather Peters with DNR. “All we’re saying is that it’s not insignificant.”

Insignificant degradation is discharge that wouldn’t cause any harm to water whatsoever.

Miley Cyrus Was Filming ‘Black Mirror’ Scene When Her Malibu House Burned Down

Miley Cyrus said she was filming a traumatic scene for Black Mirror at the same time the Woolsey Fire tore through Malibu and burned down her and ex-husband Liam Hemsworth’s home.

As a result, the “Flowers” singer explained in a recent installment of her Used to Be Young TikTok series that she suffered from panic anxiety attacks years later.

“I was filming Black Mirror and while I was there the Woolsey Fires happened in Malibu,” Cyrus said. “I was in South Africa but [the episode] was taking place in Malibu, so it was just a real trip. Two or three years after this happened, I didn’t understand, but I had this anxiety attack with a vision attached that I would be strapped down to a gurney.”

The scene she was referring to was when her character, fictional pop star Ashley O, was tied down to a medical bed against her will in an episode of season five of the popular anthology series. The scene was also similar to the harrowing dreams she was having in real life.

“I would have these dreams any time I would go to perform, and I thought that was just an anxious vision that made no sense,” she said. “But actually as my house was burning I was strapped to a gurney with my hands locked in handcuffs strapped to a bed [filming Black Mirror].

The following day, after her house was demolished by the wildfires, Cryus said in the TikTok video that she had to film the music video for Ashley O’s song “On a Roll,” which went on to receive more than 19 million views on YouTube.

“Found out that my house had burned to the ground, and this was the next day of [filming],” she added. “The show must go on.”

During her Used to Be Young TikTok series to celebrate her new single of the same name, Cryus has been looking back at earlier moments in her career as well as past relationships and friendships. Most recently, Cyrus talked about how she “didn’t make a dime” from her 2014 Bangerz Tour, as well as reminisced on falling in love with ex-husband Hemsworth while filming 2010’s The Last Song. She has also opened up about why she hasn’t toured in nearly a decade.

El Fantasma Lands Fifth No. 1 on Regional Mexican Airplay With ‘Vida Cara’

El Fantasma captures his fifth No. 1 on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart as “La Vida Cara” crowns the list dated Sept. 9. The single checks into the penthouse after a 13% gain in audience impressions, to 6.8 million, earned in the U.S. during the Aug. 25-31 tracking week, according to Luminate.

‘La Vida Cara” ascends 4-1 in its ninth week and unseats Carin León’s “Indispensable” from its three-week domination; the song dips 1-2.

El Fantasma scores his fifth No. 1 after coming short on his last appearance. Previously, “El Selectivo” reached No. 2 in April, where it held for three weeks. Prior, “Soldado Caído” lifted 3-1 in Oct. 2022.

With his fifth champ, El Fantasma becomes the sixth male artist with as many No. 1s on Regional Mexican Airplay since the list launched in 1994. Christian Nodal beats the race with 15. Here’s the recap:

15, Christian Nodal
12, Gerardo Ortiz
8, Marco Antonio Solis
7, Vicente Fernández
6, Alejandro Fernández
5, El Fantasma

Notably, as “Vida Cara” lands at No. 1, collaborators Salvador Hurtado and Indalfer Ochoa, who share writing credits, achieve their first champ on any Latin radio list. Hurtado previously landed in the runner-up slot when La Fiera De Ojinaga’s “900 Cigarros” peaked at No. 1 on the Aug. 26-dated list.

Beyond its Regional Mexican Airplay coronation, “Vida” gifts El Fantasma his ninth top 10 on the overall Latin Airplay chart as the song climbs 15-5.

Maluma’s ‘Don Juan’ debuts in the top 10: Elsewhere on Latin charts, Maluma picks up his sixth top 10 on Latin Rhythm Albums as Don Juan opens at No. 5 with 8,000 equivalent album units earned in week ending Aug. 31.

The 24-track Don Juan was released Aug. 25 via Sony Music Latin. Of the 8,000-unit week, 7,000 derives from streaming activity, equal to 10.3 million official on-demand audio and video streams for the album’s songs in its first week.

With Don Juan, Maluma logs his sixth top 10 effort on Latin Rhythm Albums out of seven chart entries. Before the No. 12-peaking The Love & Sex Tapes set in June 2022, his previous five releases all reached top 10, and three out of those topped the list – 2015 Pretty Boy, Dirty Boy earned the Colombian his first chart appearance and maiden No. 1, while F.A.M.E. (2018) and 11:11 (2019), both debuted at the summit and ruled for one week, respectively.

Don Juan was preceded by four songs on the multi-metric Hot Latin Songs chart, starting with “Sobrio,” which peaked at No. 11 in Oct. 2021. Meanwhile, three others debuted in 2023: “La Fórmula,” with Marc Anthony, “Diablo, Que Chimba,” with Anuel AA, and “Coco Loco,” all debuted and peaked at No. 33, No. 45, and No. 41 in Feb., April, and June, respectively.

Further, Don Juan debuts at No. 11 on Top Latin Albums, Maluma’s best chart performance since Papi Juancho debuted and peaked at No. 2 in 2020.

Governor Asking the President For Disaster Declaration

The Governor has asked the President for a federal disaster declaration.

Governor Mike Parson requested that President Biden approve a disaster declaration to provide federal assistance for 33 counties in Missouri impacted by severe weather in July and August.

Storm systems brought tornados, powerful winds, heavy rain, and flooding.

The federal assistance would cover the infrastructure damage estimated at over $14-million dollars.

Here is the news release with the names of the counties in the declaration.

(Jefferson City, MO) – Today, Governor Mike Parson requested that President Joe Biden approve a major disaster declaration to provide federal assistance in 33 counties in response to multiple severe weather systems that impacted Missouri from July 29 – August 14. These storm systems generated tornadoes, straight line winds, heavy rain, and flooding across the state, leading to significant damage to public infrastructure.

“For the past several weeks, the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has been working tirelessly and in close coordination with our federal and local partners to document widespread damage as a result of the severe weather that repeatedly struck Missouri late this summer,” Governor Parson said. “We are confident that federal assistance will be forthcoming and appreciate all the work that’s already been done by SEMA, local responders, and partner agencies to help our communities recover.”

Joint Preliminary Damage Assessments conducted by SEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and local emergency managers estimate more than $14 million in infrastructure damage and emergency response costs eligible for federal assistance.

Governor Parson is requesting Public Assistance for the following counties: Adair, Barry, Barton, Bates, Benton, Bollinger, Camden, Christian, Clark, Crawford, Dade, Gentry, Greene, Grundy, Henry, Iron, Knox, Madison, Maries, Mississippi, Morgan, New Madrid, Ozark, Perry, Scotland, Scott, Shelby, St. Clair, Ste. Genevieve, Taney, Vernon, Wayne, and Worth.

If approved, local governments and qualifying nonprofit agencies may seek federal assistance for reimbursement of emergency response and recovery costs, including repair and replacement costs for damaged roads, bridges, and other public infrastructure.

On August 5, Governor Parson signed Executive Order 23-08 activating the Missouri State Emergency Operations Plan in response to continuing severe weather. On August 4, an EF-2 tornado in Baring, Missouri, located in Knox County, destroyed or caused major damage to more than 35 residences as well as the town’s post office, fire station, and several other buildings. More than 30 people were displaced from their homes.

That same night, torrential rain in Adair County led to flash flooding and dozens of emergency calls. Hundreds of thousands of Missourians also lost power during the incident period due to strong winds downing trees and utility poles.

Individuals with unmet needs should contact United Way 211. Call 2-1-1 for assistance or visit http://211helps.org. For additional resources and information about disaster recovery in Missouri, please visit recovery.mo.gov.

Drake’s ‘For All the Dogs’ Album Has a Release Date

Drake‘s next album has a release date. The rapper took to Instagram late Wednesday (Sept. 6) to reveal that For All the Dogs will arrive on Sept. 22.

“FOR ALL THE DOGS SEPTEMBER 22,” Drake captioned an Instagram reel featuring an archival video of his dad, Dennis Graham, going by the moniker “Cousin Dennis” and singing with a blues band on the local Toronto TV show Stormy Monday With Danny Marks in the early ’90s. “I’m Dennis Graham from Memphis, Tennessee,” Graham says to introduce himself ahead of the performance, which includes an epic harmonica solo.

Related

Drake first teased the album and its title back in June, taking out a full-page advertisement in major outlets like the New York Post, Los Angeles Times and Houston Chronicle to promote his July poetry collection Titles Ruin Everything: A Stream of Consciousness, by Aubrey Drake Graham and Kenza Samir. The ad contained a QR code leading to the website titlesruineverything.com.

“I made an album to go with the book,” Drake wrote on the site at the time. “They say they miss the old Drake girl don’t tempt me. FOR ALL THE DOGS.”

This will be Drake’s eighth studio album and his first solo project since the dance-leaning Honestly, Nevermind in June 2022. He also released the joint album Her Loss with 21 Savage in November 2022. Both albums debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Prior to Drake’s announcement, Doja Cat had revealed that her next album, Scarlet, is also set for Sept. 22.

Drake is currently on his co-headlining It’s All a Blur Tour with 21 Savage.

Bruce Springsteen Postpones All September Shows as He’s Treated for Peptic Ulcer Disease Symptoms

Bruce Springsteen announced Wednesday (Sept. 6) that he’s postponing all his September concerts as he’s treated for symptoms of peptic ulcer disease.

“Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band have postponed all performances currently scheduled for September 2023, beginning with tomorrow’s show scheduled for the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, NY,” a statement on the band’s social media reads. “Mr. Springsteen is being treated for symptoms of peptic ulcer disease and the decision of his medical advisors is that he should postpone the remainder of his September shows.”

Some of the symptoms of peptic ulcer disease include pain or discomfort in the upper part of your abdomen, feeling uncomfortably full after eating a meal, nausea and vomiting.

The Instagram post also included this quote from Springsteen: “Over here on E Street, we’re heartbroken to have to postpone these shows. First, apologies to our fabulous Philly fans who we missed a few weeks ago. We’ll be back to pick these shows up and then some. Thank you for your understanding and support. We’ve been having a blast at our US shows and we’re looking forward to more great times. We’ll be back soon. Love and God bless all, Bruce.”

Springsteen and The E Street Band had nine dates scheduled this month, starting with Thursday’s show in Syracuse, New York, and wrapping Sept. 29 at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.

As Springsteen alluded to in his quote, two of the dates are rescheduled Philadelphia shows that were set for last month until the rocker fell ill and moved them to September. “Due to Bruce Springsteen having been taken ill, his concerts with The E Street Band at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on August 16 and 18 have been postponed,” a statement at the time read.

Counting Crows Cover Taylor Swift’s ‘The 1’ & Adam Duritz Says He Was ‘Floored’ by The Eras Tour

Taylor Swift‘s The Eras Tour has been attended by several celebrity fans, and now we know Counting Crows frontman Adam Duritz was one of them.

The singer/songwriter spoke with the Los Angeles Times in a Wednesday (Sept. 6) interview and gushed about his experience at the pop star’s career-spanning concert.

“I was floored,” Duritz said of seeing Swift live. Despite not keeping tabs on the pop star’s music over the past decade, the rock singer admitted that he tuned back in with Swift’s 2020 pandemic album releases, Folklore and Evermore. “I was a big fan when she started, but I hadn’t listened to her for about 10 years. My girlfriend is obsessed and she got us tickets and she made me a playlist — I couldn’t believe how good the Folklore and Evermore stuff was. A lot of big shows don’t interest me because it just seems like it’s people plus dancers plus whatever. But this was a work of art — like some combination of Broadway show and Universal theme ride.”

Duritz enjoyed Folklore so much that during the Crows’ Las Vegas concert at Palms Casino Resort on Saturday, he took to the piano to perform a cover of the album’s opening track “The 1,” with an accordion carrying him through most of the song and the rest of the backing band joining him for the track’s conclusion.

“But we were something, don’t you think so?/ Roaring 20s, tossing pennies in the pool/ And if my wishes came true/ It would’ve been you/ In my defense, I have none/ For never leaving well enough alone/ But it would’ve been fun/ If you would’ve been the one,” Duritz sang on the chorus of the track.

Watch Duritz perform “The 1” in the fan-captured video below.

Neck Brace, But Make It Fashion: Doja Cat Shares New Pics of Apparent Injury

Forget how her “Demons” look, what about that neck brace?! On Wednesday (Sept. 6), Doja Cat shared a pair of pics to Instagram showing off a gnarly tri-color neck brace.

Related

“I’m fine, my neck is fine,” she captioned the first post, choosing to relegate the second picture to the end of a separate photo set captioned “before the test he confessed.” Currently, details are scarce regarding why exactly the “Attention” rapper is sporting a neck brace. Doja Cat’s reps did not immediately respond to Billboard’s request for comment.

The revelation of Doja’s apparent injury comes less than a week before she is slated to take the stage at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. The Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper boasts six nominations at this year’s ceremony, including artist of the year, video of the year (“Attention”) and song of the summer (“Paint the Town Red”). In 2021, she served as the show’s host and won two Moonpeople.

Not only is Doja set for a major performance in a few days, she is also gearing up to release her fourth studio album. Scarlet, the follow-up to 2021’s Grammy-winning Planet Her, is set to arrive on Sept. 22. In addition to “Attention,” which peaked at No. 31 on the Hot 100, Doja Cat released two other songs to drum up anticipation for the record. “Paint the Town Red,” the album’s current radio single, is already a shining success, reaching a new peak of No. 3 on the Hot 100 this week (chart dated Sep. 9, 2023). A promotional single titled “Demons,” which features a music video starring Emmy-nominated Yellowjackets actress Christina Ricci, arrived last week (Sep. 1).

An injury wouldn’t be the first obstacle the Scarlet album campaign has had to overcome. On Aug. 31, Doja revealed an updated album cover for Scarlet. She was forced to change the original artwork — which featured a fittingly scarlet-colored spider — after fans noticed that German hardcore band Chaver also used the same spider on the artwork for their upcoming album cover.

Hopefully, everything is alright with Doja and she can get back to painting the town red.
