Drake Reveals He Got High Before ‘Degrassi’ Audition

Before Drake was the wildly successful rapper he is now, Degrassi: The Next Generation fans knew him as Jimmy Brooks, a rising basketball star that became wheelchair-bound after a school shooting.

Leading up to the kickoff of his highly anticipated It’s All a Blur Tour with 21 Savage at Chicago’s United Center on Wednesday (July 5), Drake took to Instagram to share an insightful audio message, in which he also revealed that he got high before the TV show’s audition.

“Someone asked me the other night what my biggest fear is, and I’ve never really had a good answer for it, but my answer was that all this is for nothing. Kind of the idea that, like, one day, life ends and it just all goes black. And I guess that question, like, sent me, you know, obviously deep into a spiral of thought,” he says in the clip. “And it makes me think about my life and how surreal it feels at times. I go back to this day when I was like 13 or 14. I had an audition for a TV show that ultimately shaped my life, and before my audition, I went to this kid’s house. And I, out of, I guess, a desire to be accepted, I would succumb to peer pressure, and I got high with these kids right before my audition.”

He continued, “I kind of wonder, like, if something bad happened that day or, you know, maybe I’m still high, maybe I’m in some coma. And this is just, like, me playing out my ideal life. And yeah, that concept has stuck with me for a lot of years. I mean, it feels like reality, it feels tangible. But I definitely wonder sometimes.”

Since Drake’s last tour, he’s released a number of album, including Her Loss with 21 Savage, which dropped in November. The set debuted and peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, earning him his 12th leader on the chart. Honestly, Nevermind arrived just months earlier in June 2022 and Certified Lover Boy in September 2021, both of which also skyrocketed to No. 1.

Avril Lavigne Makes an Unexpected Cameo in Tyga’s TikTok

Just weeks after Billboard confirmed that Avril Lavigne and Tyga called it quits after three months of dating, the “Sk8er Boi” superstar made an appearance in the rapper’s latest TikTok.

In the clip, Tyga is seen promoting his freshly released track “Bops Goin Brazy,” dancing to the beat alone before Lavigne steps into the frame, as the two lip sync the lyrics to the viral hook.

“Bops goin brazyyyy,” Tyga simply captioned the post, tagging Lavigne.

The pop punk princess and the “Rack City” MC were first spotted together in February, just days before Lavigne ended her engagement to singer/producer Mod Sun after less than a year. Soon after, the duo were photographed on a Paris getaway during Paris Fashion Week, and seemingly confirmed their romance when they were spotted kissing at the Mugler X Hunter Schafer party.

In June, Billboard confirmed reports that the couple had broken up, with a source close to the two saying that they have “mutually decided to part ways” and remain “great friends.”

It’s unclear from the TikTok if Lavigne and Tyga are back together, or if they were just taking part in friendly social media fun. Watch the full clip below.

Juanes Returns to Top 10 on Latin Pop Airplay Chart With Juan Luis Guerra Collab ‘Cecilia’

Juanes is back in the top 10 on Billboard’s Latin Pop Airplay chart as “Cecilia,” his second collab with Dominican bachata giant Juan Luis Guerra, lifts 12-9 on the July 8-dated list. The song is one of 11 tracks on his 11th studio album Vida Cotidiana, a set of personal post-pandemic tunes, released via Universal Music Latino on May 19.

“Cecilia,” an ode to his wife, was composed by both Juanes and Guerra, and written and produced alongside his pianist, Emmanuel Briceño. According to Luminate, the Caribbean rhythm-permeated song cracks the top 10 barrier with 1.85 million audience impressions, a 29% gain, earned in the week ending June 29.

“Cecilia” gives Juanes his 29th top 10 on Latin Pop Airplay, dating back to the No. 10-peaking “Nada” in 2001. With the new top 10 on his career account, the pop/rock singer-songwriter ties with Luis Miguel and Maná for the fifth-most among male acts since the chart launched in 1994. Here’s the leaderboard:

45, Enrique Iglesias
42, Ricky Martin
30, Chayanne
30, Cristian Castro
29, Juanes
29, Luis Miguel
29, Maná

Among Juanes’ 29 entries in the upper region on Latin Pop Airplay, 11 hit No. 1, including “Me Enamora” which dominated for 21 weeks (between 2007-08), the fifth-most ruler among the 319 songs which have arrived at the summit since the chart’s inception.

Guerra, meanwhile, captures his 19th top 10. The new entry follows the No. 16-peaking “Dios Así Lo Quiso,” with Ricardo Montaner (2021).

Machine Gun Kelly Fulfills Fan’s Wish by Punching Him in the Face

Some fans wish to meet their musical idols, and others apparently wish to get punched by them.

Machine Gun Kelly found himself in an unusual situation during his performance at Rock Werchter festival in Belgium over the weekend, when he saw a fan holding up a sign that read, “I just came from Mexico for you to punch me.”

“Why do you want me to punch you in the face so bad?” the “Bloody Valentine” rocker is seen asking the concertgoer in a video circulating social media. The fan is then heard saying, “I love you,” before MGK responds, “I got rings on, dude, that s—‘s gonna hurt. I don’t know, it’s a lose/lose for me. I don’t know if I’m going to do it. I’ll consider it.”

Eventually, the 33-year-old star came around, and before heading offstage after his performance of “My Ex’s Best Friend,” Machine Gun Kelly walked up to the fan — who was holding the sign in the front row — and punched him in the cheek.

“I love you!” MGK then shouted at the fan to soften the blow. Watch the whole situation go down in the clip below.

Sabrina Carpenter & BLACKPINK’s Lisa Are Friendship Goals in New Photo

Carpenters and Blinks had a field day Tuesday as Sabrina Carpenter — who embarked on the Paris stop of her Emails I Can’t Send Tour a day prior — shared a picture with BLACKPINK‘s Lisa via Instagram.

Carpenter’s photo with the BLACKPINK rapper was hidden in a carousel post, which showed snapshots of the star’s time in Paris. Photos in the set show the Disney Channel alum performing to a packed crowd, backstage shots of her with her backup dancers and posing in front of the famous Eiffel Tower at nighttime before the shot with Lisa — who was dressed casually in white jeans, a crop top and black satin jacket — at Zenith Paris – La Villette. Carpenter — dressed in an all-white stage outfit — and Lisa loosely hug for the photo.

Lisa was far from the only celebrity who made an appearance in Carpenter’s post — actress Joey King (The Kissing Booth, The Act, The Dark Night Rises) and singer Zara Larsson (“Lush Life,” “Can’t Tame Her,” “Ruin My Life”) hung out with the “Nonsense” singer during her stop in Paris.

As for Carpenter’s viral hit “Nonsense,” she gave the track’s outro a suggestive update while performing at Zenith on Monday night. “Boy that thing so big I have to share it/ What’s ménage a trois, go ask your parents/ voulez-vous coucher avec moi, Paris?” she sang on the final three lines of the track.

Here Are Fuerza Regida’s ‘Sabor Fresa’ Lyrics Translated to English

Fuerza Regida is creating a buzz on social media with its latest release “Sabor Fresa,” which translates to “strawberry flavor.”

In the new corrido, the Mexican-American group chants about being a lady’s man and attracting the prettiest girls in town. In the NSFW music video, lead vocalist Jésus Ortiz Paz (JOP) is seen channeling a plastic surgeon who works at day and parties with his clients at night.

Related

To back up the song and video’s concept, JOP even launched a BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift) giveaway on TikTok, encouraging fans to use the #SaborFresa sound and hashtag to participate.

But beyond its witty lyrics, catchy rhythm and the giveaway, “Sabor Fresa” debuts at No. 3 on Billboard‘s Hot Latin Songs chart, becoming the group’s highest debut to date, and its third top 10.

Below, check out the full lyrics translated to English:

Waiter, bring champagne
That I want to please the ladies in the back
They already saw me dancing
With the moves I have, I was able to impress them

The girls are quality
With a small waist, they like to dance sexy
The lady kisses and kisses me
Strawberry, strawberry flavor, she wants to get dirty

How do you see it, my comrade
If we go to the pool?
Let them take off their expensive clothes
Confirm it, carnal, we managed to crown

I like to hang out with the crew
Lots of operated, preppy girls
Let them take off their expensive clothes
We don’t quit here, always at war

How is it morning already?
Darn poison, it has me sleepless
An aguachile (Mexican dish) at the port
From Muchacho Alegre, they open for me whenever

I already confessed to the rosary
Mijo, you are great, walk without fear
Don’t get wavy on me
Because I don’t think about it nor does my finger tremble

How do you see it, my comrade
If we go to the pool?
Let them take off their expensive clothes
Confirm it, carnal, we managed to crown

I like to hang out with the crew
Lots of operated, preppy girls
Let them take off their expensive clothes
We don’t quit here, always at war

And here are the original Spanish lyrics:

Mesero, traiga champagne
Que quiero complacer las babies de atrás
Ya me vieron al bailar
Con el paso que cargo logré apantallar
Las morras de calidad
Con una cinturita, les gusta perrear
La niña me besa y besa
Fresa, sabor fresa, quiere bellaquear

¿Cómo la ve, mi camarada
Si nos vamos pa’ la albercada?
Que se quiten la ropa cara
Afírmale, carnal, logramos coronar
Me gusta andar con la plebada
Puras fresitas operadas
Que se quiten la ropa cara
Aquí no le bajamos, siempre beliqueando

Otro pedo
Como siempre viejo
Fuerza Regida

Puras fresitas operadas
Que se quiten la ropa cara
Aquí no le bajamos, siempre beliqueando

Ahuevo viejo
Fui, soy, y seguiré

Fuerza Regida Scores Career-High Debut on Hot Latin Songs Chart With ‘Sabor Fresa’

Fuerza Regida captures its highest debut on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart as its latest single, “Sabor Fresa,” starts at No. 3 on the ranking dated July 8. The song follows Regida’s “TQM,” which likewise debuted in the upper region just a month ago (No. 5, June).

With “Sabor Fresa,” the San Bernardino, Calif., group picks up its fourth top 10 on Hot Latin Songs. Out of those, “Bebe Dame,” with Grupo Frontera — its first entry and highest-charting title on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 (No. 25 high in January) — marked Regida’s first champ on Hot Latin Songs, which blends airplay, sales and streaming data, leading for two weeks.

Related

“Fresa” starts at No. 3 on the multimetric survey fueled by a strong streaming activity. The song logged 15 million official U.S. streams in the tracking week ending June 29, according to Luminate. That figure makes for a No. 11 launch on the overall Streaming Songs and No. 2 on Latin Streaming Songs, Regida’s highest debut on both.

Sales, too, power “Fresa’s” high start on Hot Latin Songs. While the song sold less than 1,000 downloads during the same tracking period, it was enough for a No. 3 launch on Latin Digital Song Sales.

On a global level, “Fresa” bows at No. 16 on the Billboard Global 200 with 37.2 million streams and at No. 25 on Global Excl. U.S. with 23.1 million clicks.

Plus, at its No. 26 entrance on Hot 100, “Fresa” nearly misses becoming Regida’s highest-charting song there. As mentioned, “Bebe Dame” peaked at No. 25 on the Jan. 28-dated list.

Beyonce Cancels Pittsburgh Renaissance Tour Date Due to Production, Scheduling Issues

Beyoncé‘s planned August 3 show at Pittsburgh’s Acrisure Stadium has been canceled. The venue announced the news on Wednesday (July 5) in a tweet, which said that due to unspecified “production logistics and scheduling issues” the Renaissance World Tour date has been scratched from the schedule.

Refunds will be automatically issued at the point of purchase.

At press time Bey had not commented on the Pittsburgh pull and a spokesperson had not responded to Billboard‘s request for additional information on the cause of the cancellation; the show is no longer listed on the roster of dates on the singer’s official site, which now has her playing Boston on August 1 and then moving on to Washington, DC on August 5-6.

The Renaissance tour kicked off on May 10 in Stockholm, Sweden and found the singer performing in stadiums and arenas across Europe through the final show on June 27 at the PGE Narowdoy in Warsaw, Poland; according to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore, Bey grossed $154.4 million and sold 1 million tickets across 21 European shows.

The North American tour is scheduled to kick off on July 8 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto and keep Beyoncé on the road through a Sept. 27 gig at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. The North American Renaissance dates will find Bey criss-crossing the U.S. and Canada at the same time as another powerhouse performer, Taylor Swift, fills stadiums on her Eras Tour, with Queen Bey playing a number of the same venues as her fellow Forbes’ America’s Richest Self-Made Women list honoree.

Watch BTS’ 10th Anniversary Fireworks Show

Though FESTA has come and gone, BTS fans have another chance at experiencing the group’s 10th anniversary fireworks show online. The Bangtan Boys uploaded the special celebration, which took place live from Seoul on June 17, to its YouTube page on Wednesday (July 6) for fans to enjoy.

Related

The stunning pyrotechnics display occurred at the Han River Park after night fell, and kicked off with Map of the Soul: Persona track “Mikrokosmos” — a fitting selection, as the song’s message speaks of unity and a beacon of hope to those watching. “One light is ambition/ Some light is rebellion/ People’s lights/ All are precious/ This dark night (Don’t be lonely)/ Like stars (We shine)/ Don’t disappear/ ‘Cause you’re a big existence/ Let us shine,” RM and Suga rap on the song’s second verse.

Throughout the light show, special effects were employed to fit the theme of the song playing. For “Boy With Luv” featuring Halsey, the sky lit up with smiley faces and red hearts, and during the group’s No. 1 smash “Butter,” several yellow sequences were sent up above the river. The visual display concluded with BTS’ recently released track, “Take Two,” which featured several fireworks in the group’s signature color — purple.

According to Reuters, an estimated 400,000 people — some who traveled across the world — turned up for the event in Seoul. RM was in attendance at the FESTA celebrations, and gave a message to all the fans in attendance, as well as those tuning in. “Time goes by so fast. Everything has changed, and I’ve changed a lot,” he shared. “I’m not sure what I’m going to be doing with what feelings on the 15th and 20th anniversaries, but my love for you won’t change.”
