TOMORROW X TOGETHER and Jonas Brothers Team on Pop-Spectacular ‘Do It Like That’: Watch

K-pop meets JoBro pop on “Do It Like That,” the new collaborative recording that unites the talents of TOMORROW X TOGETHER with the Jonas Brothers.

Produced by Ryan Tedder, the prolific creative behind such hits as OneRepublic’s “Counting Stars” and Beyoncé’s “Halo,” “Do It Like That” is the first team-up by TXT and the U.S. sibling trio.

“Do It Like That” splashed at midnight across digital music platforms, and it’s accompanied by a bouncy music video. Helmed by Yongsoo Kwon, the clip opens with the bros singing, grooving and jamming on instruments, before TXT gets into the swing of things for a great, big poptastica party.

The fresh cut continues another bountiful year for both acts.

In January, TXT earned its first Billboard 200 No. 1 project with The Name Chapter: Temptation (EP), the K-pop stars’ third consecutive title to reach the chart’s top 10 and seventh entry on the tally. The EP became the longest-charting K-pop album released in 2023 on the Billboard 200.

With that first chart crown, TXT topped Billboard’s Artist 100, and stopped by The Late Late Show With James Corden for a performance of “Sugar Rush Ride,” lifted from TEMPTATION, for their U.S. late night TV debut.

TXT’s Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun and Hueningkai will release their second full-length album in Japanese, SWEET, via UMe on Aug. 4, 2023.

Meanwhile, the bros Kevin, Joe and Nick recently notched their fourth No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart with The Album. It peaked at No. 3 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart, and is one of their seven top 10 albums on the main tally, a list that includes three leaders — 2008’s A Little Bit Longer, 2009’s Lines, Vines and Trying Times and 2019’s Happiness Begins.

Taylor Swift Updates ‘Better Than Revenge’ Lyrics on ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’

When Taylor Swift announced the arrival of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) back in May, a lot of fans and journalists wondered if she might change the lyrics on one of the album’s most controversial songs, “Better Than Revenge.” Now that the re-recording has arrived, what’s the verdict?

She lit a match to the infamous lyrics.

On the original song — an album cut from the 2010 project rumored to be inspired by ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas and his post-Taylor girlfriend Camilla Belle — Swift sings: “She’s not a saint and she’s not what you think, she’s an actress, whoa/ She’s better known for the things that she does on the mattress, whoa.”

In the re-recorded version that arrived first thing Friday (July 6), Swift keeps the first line the same, but changes the latter line to: “He was a moth to the flame, she was holding the matches, whoa.”

In the years since Speak Now was released in October 2010, critics have accused Swift of “slut-shaming” her romantic rival in the lyrics. When asked about the controversy swirling around the song by The Guardian in 2014, four years after the song’s release, Swift said, “I was 18 when I wrote that. That’s the age you are when you think someone can actually take your boyfriend. Then you grow up and realize no one take someone from you if they don’t want to leave.”

According to setlist.fm, Swift last performed “Revenge” in March 2012, when she wrapped up her Speak Now World Tour in New Zealand. Now that it has updated lyrics, we’ll see if she pulls it out as a surprise song on her ongoing Eras Tour.

Cardi B Links With FendiDa Rappa for ‘Point Me 2’ Remix: Stream It Now

Allow us to us to point you to your next summer hip-hop anthem. Grammy-winning rap superstar Cardi B has finally unleashed her remix of FendiDa Rappa’s TikTok viral hit “Point Me To the S—s.” Titled “Point Me 2,” the new remix is the latest in a string of collaborations between Cardi and rising female rappers.

Last September, Cardi linked up with Memphis rapper GloRilla for “Tomorrow 2,” a remix of the “F.N.F.” rapper’s original track. With Cardi’s help, the remix peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. Just last month (June 2), Cardi joined forces with two-time Grammy nominee Latto for “Put It On Da Floor Again,” a remix of Latto’s original that landed a Hot 100 peak of No. 13. Although it has been over five years since Cardi released her last album, fans are still (im)patiently waiting for her follow-up. Nonetheless, the “Up” rapper has kept the verses coming as she continues to prep the release of her sophomore LP.

Hailing from Chicago, FendiDa Rappa has been garnering a lot of traction recently thanks to her viral hit. On TikTok, the official “Point Me To the S—s” sound boasts over 150,000 posts, and just two weeks ago (June 23), FendiDa Rappa revealed that she signed a deal with Giant Music. Though she has yet to find any success on the Billboard charts, that could very well change with the release of “Point Me 2.”

On the Billboard Hot 100, Cardi B has earned five No. 1 singles, including “Bodak Yellow,” “Girls Like You” (with Maroon 5), and the Megan Thee Stallion-assisted “WAP.” Invasion of Privacy, the Bronx rapper’s debut studio album, peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and has spent over 200 weeks on the ranking.

Taylor Swift’s ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’ Is Finally Here: Stream It Now

The story starts when it was hot and it was summer — and Taylor Swift finally dropped Speak Now (Taylor’s Version).

The superstar’s re-recording of her 2010 studio album arrived at midnight on Friday (July 7), includes all 16 songs from the original and deluxe versions of the project, plus seven never-before-heard “From the Vault” tracks with two collaborations with Hayley Williams and Fall Out Boy.

“Since Speak Now was all about my songwriting, I decided to go to the artists who I feel influenced me most powerfully as a lyricist at that time and ask them to sing on the album,” Swift wrote last month, when she revealed the track listing. Williams is guest on a vault track called “Castles Crumbling,” while Fall Out Boy appears on a vault track titled “Electric Touch.”

“They’re so cool and generous for agreeing to support my version of Speak Now,” she added of her collaborators. As Swift has previously explained in regards to Red (Taylor’s Version) and Fearless (Taylor’s Version), her 2021 re-recorded projects, vault songs are previously unreleased tracks that were ultimately cut from their respective original albums. As revealed in her post, the other (solo) vault songs on the updated Speak Now are “When Emma Falls In Love,” “I Can See You,” “Foolish One” and “Timeless.”

Swift first announced Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) during her first of three The Eras shows at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium in May, revealing the release date on the screen behind her.

“The songs that came from this time in my life were marked by their brutal honesty, unfiltered diaristic confessions and wild wistfulness,” she shared at the time. “I love this album because it tells a tale of growing up, flailing, flying and crashing … and living to speak about it.”

Prince Royce Leads Tropical Airplay Chart With ‘Me EnRD’

Prince Royce notches his 23rd No. 1 on Billboard’s Tropical Airplay chart as “Me EnRD” lifts 2-1 to crown the July 8-dated ranking. The song unseats Marshmello and Manuel Turizo’s “El Merengue” from the lead, after its 13-week domination (it falls to No. 2).

“Me EnRD” lands at No. 1 in its 10th week after a steady climb, including five weeks at No. 2. It crowns the survey with a 4% increase in audience impressions, to 8 million, earned in the U.S. during the June 23-29 tracking week, according to Luminate.

Related

“Me EnRD” is just the second Tropical Airplay-ruling song by an artist unaccompanied by any other act in 2023, after Manuel Turizo’s “La Bachata,” which led for five weeks (a total of 14 weeks in charge). With the 2-1 move, “EnRD” gifts Royce his 23rd champ, after Marc Anthony, who continues at the helm with 35 total No. 1s, and Victor Manuelle with 29.

Here’s the scoreboard with artists with the most No. 1s on Tropical Airplay since the chart begun in 1994:

35, Marc Anthony
29, Victor Manuelle
23, Prince Royce
18, Romeo Santos
14, Elvis Crespo
14, Gilberto Santa Rosa
13, Jerry Rivera

Beyond its Tropical Airplay coronation, “EnRD” makes progress on the overall Latin Airplay chart, with an 8-6 jump.

La Maquinaria Norteña hits top 10: Elsewhere on Latin Airplay, La Maquinaria Norteña captures its third top 10 as “Te Quiero Ver” climbs 16-9 with 7 million in audience impressions; that’s a 30% gain from the week prior, earned during the same period. It’s the biggest percentage gain among the 50-song deep tally.

As mentioned, “Te Quiero” is the norteño group’s third top 10 on Latin Airplay, all which arrived less than a year ago. The song follows La Maquinaria’s highest-charting title to date, the No. 4-peaking “Eres Ese Algo” (Feb. 25).

Further, “Quiero” nearly misses the No. 1 slot on Regional Mexican Airplay, as the song pushes 5-2.

Jessica Simpson Had One Thing to Say When Asked About ‘Newlyweds’ Resurgence

Amid the early aughts nostalgia that’s been going on over on TikTok in recent months, clips from the reality series Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica have been circulating on the platform.

The show, which aired from 2003 to 2005, shared a glimpse into Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson’s relationship after they tied the knot in 2002. Their short-lived marriage ended in late 2005 and, at the time, Simpson received most of the scrutiny.

Now, TikTokers are seeing things differently, calling out the 98 Degrees member for actually being the show’s “villain.” In a new interview with Bustle, Simpson reflects on the relationship after the story’s journalist brought up a particularly viral Newlyweds scene in which Lachey is blaming Simpson for a home renovation project that didn’t go as planned.

The Love Is Blind host doubles down on his anger, telling Simpson, “You’re a spoiled brat. You’re a bratty girl.”

In response, Simpson simply told Bustle, “It’s amazing what publicity can do.”

Thankfully, Simpson has since found love with former NFL player Eric Johnson, and the duo got married in 2014. The couple share three children: 11-year-old Maxwell “Maxi” Drew, 10-year-old Ace Knute and four-year-old Birdie Mae.

“I’m still that person,” she joked about her “bratty” attitude to Bustle. “Honestly, if Eric told me I had to do all the laundry, I would still throw it over the banister and throw a hissy fit.”

Britney Spears Speaks Out After Victor Wembanyama Incident: ‘Physical Violence Is Happening Too Much’

Britney Spears has spoken out after she filed a police report for allegedly getting struck by NBA star Victor Wembanyama’s security in Las Vegas.

“Traumatic experiences are not new to me and I have had my fair share of them. I was not prepared for what happened to me last night,” the pop superstar wrote on her Instagram page on Thursday (July 6). “I recognized an athlete in my hotel lobby as I was heading to dinner. I later went to a restaurant at a different hotel and saw him again. I decided to approach him and congratulate him on his success. It was really loud, so I tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention. I am aware of the players statement where he mentions ‘I grabbed him from behind’ but I simply tapped him on the shoulder. His security then back handed me in the face without looking back, in front of a crowd. Nearly knocking me down and causing my glasses [to fall] off my face.”

Spears’ recollection of the events aligns with TMZ‘s initial reporting of the incident, which occurred on Wednesday (July 5) at Catch restaurant in the Aria Hotel, where Spears was dining with her husband Sam Asghari and two friends. The publication reported that when Spears tapped Wembanyama on the shoulder, the San Antonio Spurs player’s Director of Team Security Damian Smith pushed her, hitting her in the face as she fell to the ground.

In a statement shared by Associated Press, Wembanyama said that Spears “grabbed me from behind,” and that he didn’t know it was the “Womanizer” singer until hours later. “I just know the security pushed her away. I don’t know with how much force but security pushed her away. I didn’t stop to look so I could walk in and enjoy a nice dinner,” he said.

TMZ reported that Spears’ security team met with Smith, and the superstar ultimately decided to file a police report alleging battery.

“I get swarmed by people all the time,” Spears wrote in her statement. “In fact, that night. I was swarmed by a group of at least 20 fans. My security team didn’t hit any of them.”

She continued, “This story is super embarrassing to share with the world but it’s out there already. However, I think it’s important to share this story and urge people in the public eye to set an example and treat all people with respect.”

Spears concluded by thanking the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department for their work, adding: “Physical violence is happening too much in this world. Often behind closed doors. I stand with all the victims and my heart goes out to all of you!!! I have get to get a public apology from the player, his security or their organization. I hope they will…”

NBA Rookie Victor Wembanyama Says He Was ‘Grabbed From Behind’ in Britney Spears Incident

LAS VEGAS (AP) — San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama said Thursday (July 6) he believes Britney Spears grabbed him from behind as he was walking into a restaurant at a Las Vegas casino, and that the security detail he was with pushed the pop star away.

Wembanyama said he wasn’t told that Spears was the person who grabbed him until hours later.

Related

Spears filed a police report saying she was struck by a security guard while trying to get the attention of Wembanyama, a person with knowledge of the matter said Thursday. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the police report had yet to be released publicly.

Spears’ representatives did not respond to a request for comment and police officials did not immediately return a message seeking more details. Wembanyama said security advised him to not stop for anyone as he walked into the restaurant, mindful that pausing could cause a stir and allow a crowd to build.

“Something did happen, a little bit, when I was walking with some security from the team to some restaurant,” Wembanyama said. “We were in the hall. There was a lot of people, so people were calling [at] me, obviously. There was one person who was calling me but we talked before with security.

“I couldn’t stop. That person was calling me, ‘Sir, sir,’ and that person grabbed me from behind,” Wembanyama said. “I didn’t see what happened because I was walking straight and didn’t stop. That person grabbed me from behind — not on my shoulder, she grabbed me from behind. I just know the security pushed her away. I don’t know with how much force but security pushed her away. I didn’t stop to look so I could walk in and enjoy a nice dinner.”

TMZ first reported details of the event that took place Wednesday night near a restaurant at the ARIA hotel and casino. TMZ said Spears was in a group of four trying to enter a restaurant for dinner and that she “was swarmed by fans as she entered the casino.” TMZ said she noticed Wembanyama and tapped him on the shoulder in an effort to get his attention; Spears, the site said, wound up being struck in the face and having her glasses knocked off.

“I didn’t know for a couple hours, but when I came back to the hotel … I thought it was no big deal, and then security of the Spurs told me it was Britney Spears,” Wembanyama said. “At first, I was like, ‘You’re joking,’ but yeah, it turns out it was Britney Spears. I never saw her face. I just kept walking straight.”

He was unaware that the situation had made headlines until Thursday.

“I saw the news obviously this morning. I woke up to a couple of phone calls,” Wembanyama said.

Wembanyama will make his NBA Summer League debut with the Spurs on Friday night in Las Vegas against the Charlotte Hornets. He signed some autographs for fans at the ARIA on Wednesday night and did the same for a small number of onlookers as he entered a local high school for practice with the Spurs on Thursday morning.

Above & Beyond Earn First RIAA Gold-Certified Record

Above & Beyond are going further than ever before, with the electronic trio earning their first RIAA Gold Record via their 2019 track “Don’t Leave.”

The song comes from the group’s 2019 ambient album Flow State, which was designed for use during yoga and meditation. The certification marks 500,000 units moved of the song, with the track’s success bolstered via Amazon Music, which has pushed yoga and meditation music over the past few years. Multiple tracks from Flow State appeared on ambient-oriented Amazon Music playlists, with more than 70% of the Amazon Music plays of “Don’t Leave” coming from such curated programming.

“Our wellness and meditation customers are incredibly discerning; if a song isn’t resonating with them, we see that quickly,” says John Farrey, dance & electronic lead at Amazon Music. “Above & Beyond put the same care into their work in the wellness space that they do for the dance floor, and it’s that attention that has led to the staying power of ‘Don’t Leave’ on Amazon Music.”

The success of “Don’t Leave” also marks the first RIAA Certification for Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep, the labels founded by Above & Beyond and the home of all their music. The album also marked the inspiration for the latest A&B-related label, Reflections, a home for ambient, downtempo and wellness-related music. Launched in 2022, Reflections averages one release per week and is designed to be a home for electronic producers to explore different facets of their sound.

The RIAA certification of “Don’t Leave” was celebrated last night in Brooklyn, where the trio’s Paavo Siljamaki and longtime collaborator Elena Brower (a contributor to Flow State) hosted a sunset yoga session on the roof of Amazon Music.

“Our music has always been about getting in touch with, and understanding and accepting our emotions,” says Siljamaki. “After those amazing yoga sets, we realized that there is a bigger place for this more reflective music within our little universe. With the Flow State project, we want to help bring people’s attention and focus towards helping themselves find better mental fitness and overall happiness in life.”
