High-Speed Chase in Cedar County, Ends in Polk County

A man is in custody after leading authorities on a high-speed chase into Polk County.

Authorities say a Cedar County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to pull the man over sometime Monday in the Stockton area, but the suspect fled the scene.

A chase ensued, with speeds reaching over 80 miles per hour, and the suspect opened fire on officers during the pursuit.

One deputy is reported to have fired back on the man.

The chase came to an end due to a crash near Fair Play. The suspect was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.

The identity of the man, and the extent of his injuries as well as charges, have not been released.
