“Eat Your Young” debuted at bests of No. 6 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart and No. 67 on the Billboard Hot 100, both dated April 1. It ranked on at No. 21 on the most recently published, May 13-dated former survey, with 2.4 million official U.S. streams in addition to its radio airplay.

“Take Me to Church” marked Hozier’s commercial breakthrough, dominating Hot Rock & Alternative Songs for 23 weeks and reaching No. 2 on the Hot 100 in 2014-15. In addition to its Adult Alternative Airplay coronation, it led Adult Pop Airplay and hit the top five on Alternative Airplay and Pop Airplay.

Hozier’s three-song Eat Your Young EP was released March 17. A follow-up full-length to 2019’s Wasteland, Baby! has not yet been announced.

All May 20-dated Billboard charts will update on Billboard.com on Tuesday, May 16.

Ed Sheeran Surprises Superfan Couple & Shares Sweet Parenting Advice

Ed Sheeran is the unofficial king of wedding songs, and the 32-year-old crooner surprised a couple who are longtime fans of the superstar and even chose his song “Put It All On Me” for their first dance at their wedding.

In a TikTok video posted by @MeetCutesNYC, the couple explains how they met and how they bonded over their love for Sheeran. “Candy, Harry Potter, Ed Sheeran,” the husband said of their shared interests. “And the rest is history.”

Halfway through the clip, the singer himself appears, as the couple screams in excitement on the New York City sidewalk. “This just made our life. That’s fantastic,” the husband says to the star, before they revealed that they danced to his No. 6 Collaborations Project song at their wedding.

“I think that’s the first time I’ve heard somebody dance to that,” Sheeran responded, before learning that the couple is expecting their first baby, a boy, in five weeks. Sheeran, who shares two-year-old daughter Lyra and one-year-old daughter Jupiter with wife Cherry Seaborn, had some sweet advice for the parents-to-be.

“Month four, it gets easier,” he told them. “The one thing you need to know is that no one gets it right.”

The surprise comes just a week after Sheeran unveiled his vulnerable new album, Subtract, which the couple listened to once it released at the Indie Record Store. Watch the adorable moment below.

New Pedestrian Underpass Open at Missouri State University

After nearly two years and over $6 million in construction, the new pedestrian underpass on Grand Street is now open.

Missouri State University announced Friday that the project was completed and accessible.

The underpass, which runs underneath Grand, connects the 1,400 spot parking lot to the campus without students having to worry about the traffic on the street.

The project has received ADA approval with the additions of a ramp for wheelchair access, and an elevator on the north side of the underpass for those with physical disabilities.

Officials say it also includes improved lighting and sidewalks, as well as handrails up and down each side of the underpass.

The project was slated to be completed last year, but the COVID-19 pandemic inflated the cost of supplies, and flooding slowed down construction.

Dolly Parton, Ed Sheeran & More: Which Was Your Favorite 2023 ACM Awards Performance? Vote!

The 2023 ACM Awards featured some of the biggest stars in country descending upon the Ford Center at the Star in Frisco, Texas, on Thursday (May 11) to honor achievements in the genre and showcasing talent in a series of performances.

Dolly Parton played a large part in the night’s success, as she co-hosted the Academy of Country Music Awards with Garth Brooks, and took to the stage for a debut performance of “World on Fire.” Serving as the first taste of her forthcoming rock n’ roll album Rockstar — which is set to be released in November — Parton took to the stage in a billowing skirt with a map of the world on it, and was later joined by dancers who performed high-energy choreography in front of controlled flames.

Ed Sheeran, fresh off the release of his fifth studio album Subtract, also gave a stunning performance of of “Life Goes On” consisting of just him with his acoustic guitar — that is, until Luke Combs provided a surprise assist for the second verse of the track. (Combs performed “Love You Anyway” solo earlier in the night).

Lainey Wilson and Jelly Roll teamed up to perform “Save Me,” while Cody Johnson, joined by his band, gave a twangy performance of “Mamas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys,” and Jason Aldean took to the ACM stage for his song “Tough Crowd,” which, contrary to its title, won over the audience.

Revisit some of performances at the 2023 ACM awards and vote for your favorite in the poll below.

The ACM Awards is produced by Dick Clark Productions. DCP is owned by Penske Media Eldridge, a Penske Media Corporation (PMC) subsidiary and joint venture between PMC and Eldridge. PMC is the parent company of Billboard

Rob Bisel Hits No. 1 on R&B Producers Chart Thanks to SZA Hits

Rob Bisel rises to No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B Producers chart (dated May 13), ruling for the first time thanks to four production credits on the Hot R&B Songs chart (dated May 13), all by SZA.

Leading the charge is SZA’s smash single “Kill Bill,” which adds a 20th week at No. 1 on Hot R&B Songs. It ties Bruno Mars’ “That’s What I Like,” The Weeknd’s “Starboy” featuring Daft Punk, and Drake’s “One Dance” featuring WizKid and Kyla for the second-longest reign in the chart’s history, after The Weeknd’s 48-week leader “Blinding Lights.”

“Kill Bill,” which became SZA’s first No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 two weeks earlier, drew 81.7 million radio airplay audience impressions and 21.3 million official streams and sold 1,000 in the U.S. April 28-May 4, according to Luminate.

Bisel co-produced “Kill Bill” with Carter Lang, who dips to No. 2 on R&B Producers after spending 20 weeks at No. 1, the fourth-longest command in the chart’s four-year history.

Here’s a look at all four of Bisel’s production credits on the latest Hot R&B songs chart, with co-producers listed in parentheses.

Rank, Artist Billing, Title (co-producers in addition to Bisel):

  • No. 1, SZA, “Kill Bill” (Carter Lang)
  • No. 13, SZA feat. Travis Scott, “Open Arms” (Michael Uzowuru, Teo Halm)
  • No. 21, SZA, “Blind” (Carter Lang, Yuli, Will Miller)
  • No. 24, SZA feat. Phoebe Bridgers, “Ghost in the Machine” (Carter Lang)

All four tracks are on SZA’s latest album, SOS, which spent 10 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and 21 weeks and counting at No. 1 on Top R&B Albums (encompassing every week since the set’s release).

Bisel also spends a 21st consecutive week at No. 2 on the R&B Songwriters chart, behind SZA herself, who claims a 32nd week on top.

Elsewhere, Bisel ranks at No. 2 on R&B/Hip-Hop Producers, No. 3 on R&B/Hip-Hop Songwriters, No. 7 on Hot 100 Producers and No. 16 on Hot 100 Songwriters.

Billboard launched the Hot 100 Songwriters and Hot 100 Producers charts, as well as genre-specific rankings for country, rock & alternative, R&B/hip-hop, R&B, rap, Latin, Christian, gospel and dance/electronic, in June 2019. (Alternative and hard rock joined in 2020, along with seasonal holiday rankings in 2022.) The charts are based on total points accrued by a songwriter and producer, respectively, for each attributed song that appears on the Hot 100. The genre-based songwriter and producer charts follow the same methodology based on corresponding “Hot”-named genre charts. As with Billboard’s yearly recaps, multiple writers or producers split points for each song equally (and the dividing of points will lead to occasional ties on rankings).

The full Hot 100 Songwriters and Hot 100 Producers charts and full genre rankings can be found on Billboard.com.

Ke Personajes, Big One & FMK Rule Billboard Argentina Hot 100 for a Third Week

Ke Personajes, Big One and FMK rule the Billboard Argentina Hot 100 chart for third week, as their first partnership, “Un Finde: Big One Crossover #2,” holds atop the ranking dated May 6.

It’s the third song to rule the tally for at least three weeks in 2023, after Bizarrap and Shakira’s “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” (four weeks at the penthouse, starting the Jan. 21-dated list) and another Big One collab, “En La Intimidad,” with Emilia and Calljeron Fino (seven consecutive weeks starting chart dated Feb. 25). The latter rebounds 9-4 on the current tally.

BM’s “M.A (Mejores Amigos)” holds steady at No. 2 for a third week after leading the chart for one week (dated April 15), while Ke Personajes’ “Pobre Corazón,” featuring Onda Sabanera, continues at its No. 3 high for a second week.

Yng Lvcas and Peso Pluma score their first top 10 as “La Bebe” rallies 13-5 in its seventh week. Meanwhile, Grupo Frontera likewise clocks its first top 10 thanks to its Bad Bunny collab, “Un X100to,” which surges 24-7.

Argentinian Milo J nabs the Hot Shot Debut of the week with “Rara Vez” at No. 17. It’s his highest entry among six total chart appearances. He previously secured a top 40 on his first try as “Milagrosa” peaked at No. 36 on the March 25-dated list.

Further, Quevedo and Myke Towers’ “Playa del Inglés” takes home the Greatest Gainer honors of the week with a 36-rank climb, from No. 85 to No. 49.

Five other songs debut this week, starting with Khea and Tiago Pzk’s “Para Amarte a Ti,” at No. 76. Andres Calamaro returns with “Costumbres Argentinas,” his collaboration with Los Auténticos Decadentes, at No. 77. Feid and Sean Paul’s “Niña Bonita” launches at No. 82, while Fito Paez places two simultaneous songs: “El Amor Después del Amor” and “Brillante Sobre el Mic” at No. 89 and No. 93, respectively.

Trisha Yearwood Reacts to Dolly Parton’s ACM Awards Joke About Threesome With Garth Brooks

There are probably very few women in the world who could get away with joking about a threesome with another woman’s husband, but it’s no surprise that Dolly Parton is one of them. After the beloved country queen quipped about having a ménage à trois with her ACM Awards co-host Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood during the ceremony’s opening monologue on Thursday (May 11), the latter artist responded with lots of love for Parton.

“Everybody loves Dolly,” Yearwood told Entertainment Tonight, following her performance with Carly Pearce at the awards show.

“Actually, people think this is Dolce and Gabbana but it’s Dolly and Garth,” she added, referencing the designers of her red-carpet outfit. “Everybody loves Dolly. We love Dolly so much.”

The joke in question happened toward the beginning of the program, with first-time host Brooks praising Parton, an ACM Awards veteran, for being country music’s GOAT, which, of course, stands for “greatest of all time.” To really hit it home, Parton then brought a literal goat on stage with her, before leaving the audience at the Ford Center in Frisco, Texas, breathless by joking, “I know why you are doing that GOAT thing … I think that stands for ‘Garth Organizes a Threesome.’”

Parton had also noted that both Brooks and Yearwood, who’ve been married since 2005, have said that the “9 to 5” singer is their shared “hall pass.”

“I thought I couldn’t love you any more,” a blushing Brooks replied.

That wasn’t Dolly’s only PG-13 joke of the night, though. She also squeezed in a jab at her voluptuousness while complimenting Brooks. “I’ll never forget when Garth came on the scene and just changed the game of country music forever. Like, in a flash, Garth became one of the biggest stars of all time,” she shared. “I remember when I came along, people were saying that I’m two of the biggest stars in music — I’m still milking it.”

Jonas Brothers, BLACKPINK & More Acts That Released Albums With Very Literal Titles

Sometimes, album titles show a great deal of thought. The 1975’s I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It is a title of great complexity and beauty. The full title of Fiona Apple’s 1999 album When the Pawn… is an eight-line poem that contains a whopping 444 characters.

But sometimes artists just like to keep it simple. Real simple. Led Zeppelin’s first four albums were titled Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin II, Led Zeppelin III and Led Zeppelin IV.

Chicago titled a long series of albums with just the band’s name and the number of studio albums they had released at that point. They kept this up, with just a couple of exceptions, from Chicago II in 1970to Chicago 18 in 1986.

Adele kept it as simple as could be with the titles of her albums 19, 21, 25 and 30 – her ages when she wrote and recorded them.

Then there are the album titles that are quite literal – they tell you exactly what the album is, with no flourishes whatsoever. The latest example is Jonas BrothersThe Album, which was released today (May 12). As you’ll see below, it’s not the first time an act has titled an album The Album. (Here’s a ranking of all 12 tracks on the album by Billboard writer Hannah Dailey, who, in the spirit of literal titles, could have titled this piece, The Ranking.)

There have been many other examples of literal album titles over the years, as you’ll see when you scroll through this sampling of albums where it’s all right there in the title – with no frills added. All of these albums made the Billboard 200, with peak positions shown below.
