BTS’ J-Hope & J. Cole Reflect on Careers for ‘On the Street’: Watch the Meaningful Hip-Hop Collaboration

With BTS‘ J-Hope teaming up with J. Cole for “On the Street,” two of hip-hop’s most uplifting and earnest storytellers today come together for a meaningful hip-hop collaboration.

After BIGHIT MUSIC shared the news on Feb. 26 that J-Hope was beginning his South Korean military enlistment process, the label soon followed up that a new solo single from the rapper would drop on Mar. 3. While fans received official “On the Street” photos that saw J-Hope hanging in New York City, the major reveal for “On the Street” came 24 hours ahead of its release when the official teaser video revealed the song’s special guest in J. Cole.

True to both artists’ penchant for invigorating and socially conscious messages, “On the Street” is brimming with gratitude A lo-fi beat with elements of boom-bap mixed with a catchy whistle hook (with the whistling provided by J-Hope himself, according to a press release), the song’s warm energy is undeniable as the K-pop star opens the track, speaking to fans saying, “Even my walk was made of your love and your faith.”

J. Cole takes over for the second verse with a candid, reflective section looking back with appreciation on his journey: “All hail the mighty survivor of hell…/ Fought tooth and nail/ Just to prevail ‘mongst its most ruthless.” Cole also contemplates the future of his career, spitting, “As the moon jumps over the cow/ I contemplate if I should wait to hand over the crown/ And stick around for a bit longer/ I got a strange type of hunger,” no doubt rousing fans into analyzing each lyric.

J-Hope closes out the track by repeating the anthemic chorus but not before adding a shoutout to “Cole World.”

“On the Street” is particularly meaningful to J-Hope. While BTS has long shared their admiration for the North Carolina-raised rapper—revealing way back in 2013 their reinterpreted take on J. Cole’s “Born Sinner” with “Born Singer,” which was only officially released last year on Proof—J-Hope has always shared how Cole is one of his ultimate favorite singers; take a look at his playlist of favorite songs with two Cole tracks.

The official music video saw both stars collaborating and shooting the video in New York City.

“On the Street” is J-Hope’s first new solo song since hopping on “Rush Hour” with Korean R&B singer “Crush” (at No. 1 hit on the World Digital Song Sales chart) last fall and follows up his full-length Jack in the Box album from July. Meanwhile, J. Cole dropped a surprise song a few weeks back on Jan. 18 with “Procrastination (Broke),” acting as a thank you to producer Bvtman and “every producer out there cooking up and sharing their work with the world.” Cole’s last LP was May 2021’s The Off-Season from (which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200).

Morgan Wallen’s ‘One Thing at a Time’ Is Here: Stream All 36 Tracks Now

At midnight on Friday (March 3), Morgan Wallen unleashed his massive, 36-track third studio album, One Thing at a Time, via Big Loud/Mercury/Republic.

The new album features a blend of Wallen’s country, alternative and hip-hop influences, and features collaborations with Eric Church on “Man Made a Bar,” HARDY on “In The Bible,” and ERNEST on “Cowgirls.” Elsewhere, he interpolates The Allman Brothers’ “Midnight Rider” on “Everything I Love,” and interpolates Young Thug’s “Lifestyle” on “180 (Lifestyle).”

“This record represents the last few years of my life, the highs and the lows,” Wallen said via a press release. “It also brings together the musical influences that have shaped me as an artist – country, alternative and hip-hop. There are 36 songs on this album because we just kept exploring with fresh lyrics, music and production ideas and these are the songs that felt right to me. It was a blast to create, and I was so grateful to be back in the studio to lay this out for my fans.”

One Thing at a Time follows Wallen’s 2018 debut album If I Know Me, and seems poised to possibly dethrone the current No. 1 on the Billboard top country albums chart–Wallen’s own album, Dangerous: The Double Album, which has totaled 96 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s top country albums chart since its release in January 2021. Last year, the album broke the record for the most weeks spent in the top 10 on the Billboard 200 among albums by a solo artist. Meanwhile, two songs from One Thing at a Time are already atop the Billboard country charts: Wallen tops Billboard‘s Country Airplay chart with “Thought You Should Know” and the Hot Country Songs chart with “Last Night.”

Wallen added, “I just try to tell it how it is – the good, the bad, the love, the heartbreak. That’s all I know how to do,” says Wallen. “My hope is that this album makes my fans proud; makes ’em laugh, smirk, cry, and think – just like it did for me.”

To celebrate the album’s release, Wallen will headline a free show at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Friday, March 3.

Big Time Rush Sing Miley Cyrus, Adele & More in ‘Song Association’ Challenge

Big Time Rush are the latest stars to take part in Elle’s popular song association challenge, and teased a new album before earning a perfect score.

With 10 seconds to think of and sing a lyric featuring a key word, BTR started off strong by associating the word “gold” to Kanye West’s “Gold Digger,” before James Maslow had the group erupting in laughter with a surprise high note.

The four-man group breezed through Maroon 5’s “Sunday Morning” for the word “Sunday,” Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” for “flower,” Daughtry’s “Home” for “home”, Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” for “deep,” Niall Horan’s “Slow Hands” for “hands,” Hilary Duff’s “Come Clean” for “rain” and many more, all while joking around and sharing sweet stories about their musical growth along the way.

Big Time Rush even sang a few of their own songs, including “Til I Forget About You,” “Stuck,” “Paralyzed” and their new single, “Not Giving You Up.”

“Let’s just say that single has siblings,” Maslow said of the new track, before Carlos PenaVega asked if the “siblings live in a house together,” insinuating that a full album is on the way.

“Yeah, we might even call that house Can’t Get Enough,” Maslow replied, to which Kendall Schmidt quipped, “Maybe. We still need to discuss that, James.”

Logan Henderson then chimed in, noting that he’s “had more fun writing this music than the previous albums. It’s a lot more fun and freeing.”

Big Time Rush’s final “Song Association” score was a flawless 15 out of 15, tying with Olivia Rodrigo for the perfect score. Watch the whole clip below.

Gwyneth Paltrow Wishes ‘Sweetest Father & Friend’ Chris Martin a Happy Birthday

What conscious uncoupling? Gwyneth Paltrow took to social media Thursday (March 2) to ring in ex-husband Chris Martin‘s 46th birthday.

“Happy birthday to the sweetest father and friend,” the Oscar winner wrote on Instagram alongside a casual smiling selfie with the Coldplay frontman, ending the note with “We love you, cajm.” (The acronym likely stands for the singer’s full name, Christopher Anthony John Martin.)

The couple — who famously coined the phrase “conscious uncoupling” upon announcing their split in 2014 — shared kids Apple and Moses. Paltrow has since remarried Brad Falchuk, whom she worked with on the set of Glee, and Martin has been in a relationship with Dakota Johnson since 2017.

Late last month, the “My Universe” singer was named a co-chair for Global Citizen’s upcoming NOW Summit — an additional responsibility on top of his current role curating the nonprofit’s annual festival in Central Park. Along with fellow co-chair Hugh Jackman and an array of leaders across politics, philanthropy and business, Martin will be “focused on turning ideas into impact and driving urgent action to end extreme poverty” during the April 27-28 event.

Ahead of his birthday, the pop-rocker and his bandmates also returned to Saturday Night Live in February, marking their seventh time performing on the long-running sketch series. As musical guests, they performed “The Astronaut,” their collaboration with BTS member Jin, and were later joined by Jacob Collier and the Jason Max Ferdinand Singers on a choral version of “Fix You.”

Mike Bahia & Greeicy Open Up About Touring Life With Their Baby on ‘Amantes U.S. Tour’

Eight years ago, Mike Bahía and Greeicy did their first joint concert in Colombia with a very theatrical concept — storytelling, acting, singing, dancing and more — rather than doing just another concert. Since, the two Colombian artists, who have shined in their individual careers, have made the rounds all over Latin America with their very successful “Amantes Tour.”

Now, for the first time, they are touring the U.S. in key theater venues with their 10-month-old baby, Kai.

“After the first show we did in 2015, we realized that it’s a show for the family,” Greeicy tells Billboard. “We saw children, we saw the grandmother, the cousin, the parents, and today that Kai is part of our lives it makes more sense because it’s aimed at the family represented by a family. I feel that with the years, ‘Amantes Tour’ gains more strength.”

Presented by Loud and Live, the U.S. trek kicked off Feb. 23 at the Colden Auditorium in New York and wraps March 3 at Houston’s Arena Theatre. Hitting the road has been possible thanks to the couple’s beloved family, who travels with them to take care of their baby backstage.

“If it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t be able to leave for three days, my peace of mind wouldn’t be good if it wasn’t for our family,” the singer and actress adds. “I feel we are privileged because we have a son who adapts to our lifestyle and we have people who support us and help us. I love the job of being a mom but I also love all of this. I think that during my pregnancy I did more things than I have ever done in my life and it’s very nice because I feel that as the years go by, we are going to look back at all the memories with Kai.”

Greeicy & Mike Bahía

In the midst of their touring life, Greeicy and Bahía released a new collaborative effort called “Mi Pecadito” (my little sin). The playful bachata narrates the story of two people who like each other but have other commitments — think a sequel to their 2017 hit “Amantes.”

“The musical exploration has continued,” says Bahía, whose recent solo single happens to be a salsa track. “I feel that we have given a lot of priority to the songs more than the rhythms but we feel comfortable making tropical music. When I listen to it, it makes me want to dance and that’s why we explore these rhythms with more confidence.”

When I listen to it, it makes me want to dance and that’s why we explore these rhythms with more confidence.”

Following their U.S. tour, the family-of-three plans to move to Miami, Fla., and leave behind their countryside lifestyle in Medellín, for the time being.

“I feel that this city is going to do us very well,” explains Bahía. “In addition to that it will do Kai very well. Kai will begin to acquire the [English] language. We’re going to live near the sea and let our careers grow and explore other things we haven’t done before. Back in Colombia, we reached our comfort zone. We could continue there or challenge ourselves to meet new goals.”

Christina Aguilera Slams the ‘Old-School Behavior’ of Shaming Women for Aging

Christina Aguilera is speaking out against those who criticize women on their looks as they get older.

“It’s a lot of stigma, a lot of old-school behavior and ideals that women have to look a certain way and that it’s shameful to get older,” Christina told Allure in a new interview shared on Thursday (Mar. 2). “No matter what you do, you’re going to have people that hate on you.”

The 42-year-old pop star added that she has experience with cosmetic injectables, noting that she supports getting a “little help,” though she didn’t clarify what type of treatments she has had done. “I’ve always been a pretty open book about embracing my body, my looks,” she explained. “I think to each their own, and I think we [should] all do what’s right for us, so I don’t believe in judgment where that’s concerned whatsoever.”

She added, “For me, it’s about bringing that realness to the stage and my daily life while still doing what I can to feel and look my best.”

“It’s so important to give space and love for both sides of you,” she shared. “You want to feel hot when you go out to dinner and get yourself all glammed up. That’s a really fun thing to play with.”

Aguilera continued, “But at the same time, I think it’s important that that isn’t the only definition of beauty for you, that you can just run a bubble bath and put some salts in and feel sexy and great in your body no matter what you’re working with.”

Here’s Why Charli XCX Totally Missed Harry Styles’ Shout-Out to Her at the Brit Awards

Charli XCX has a confession to make. When Harry Styles thanked her and her contemporaries during his artist of the year acceptance speech at last month’s Brit Awards, she was nowhere to be found — and now she’s revealing why.

The “Crash” singer appeared on the Thursday (March 2) episode of The Project and shared that her appearance at the Brits was meant to be spicy from the start. “I was just gonna go and cause trouble because I feel like if they’re not going to take female artists seriously, then why should I take them seriously? So I just went to stir the pot, basically,” she recalled on the program.

Ahead of the awards show on Feb. 11, Charli went viral for calling the awards show out for a lack of female representation in the artist of the year category. “I’ve heard a lot of chat about the fact there weren’t enough females in album cycle and that’s why no one was nominated. But I was in album cycle and I had a [U.K.] No. 1 album [with Crash],” she told a reporter on the red carpet.

When Styles accepted the artist of the year award, he used his speech to highlight the women left out of the category. “I’m really, really grateful for this and I’m very aware of my privilege up here tonight,” the “As It Was” singer said during his acceptance. “So this award is for Rina [Sawayama], Charli [XCX], Florence [Welch], Mabel and Becky [Hill].”

According to Charli, she was not mentally present for Styles’ show of admiration during his acceptance speech. “I have such a confession — I was actually under the table at that point…with my friends, we just had too many bottles of champagne and we were doing bad things, so I actually missed that,” she told The Project. “And then Rina, who Harry also mentioned in that speech, was kicking me: ‘Get up, get up! Harry Styles is saying your name!’ and then I was like, ‘Oh that’s so lovely,’ but I missed it. That’s very sweet of him. It’s cool of him to use his platform to acknowledge my point.”

Up next for Charli is a new two-album contract, though she has yet to share what record label she has signed to. Watch Charli talk about her time at the BRITs in the video above.

26 Latin Pop Artists Who’ve Experimented With Bachata

A year ago, Billboard predicted the trends we would see over the course of 2022 and 2023 in Latin music — including more urban, pop, and bachata fusions. With a growing number of Latin artists outside of the Bachata realm tapping into the Dominican-rooted genre, that’s turned out to be precisely the case.

Though we’ve seen these types of collaborations in the past, including Romeo Santos and Usher’s “Promise” in 2011 and Prince Royce’s “Deja Vu” with Shakira in 2017, many urban artists, as of lately, have experimented with Bachata and released their innovative tracks. Most of them have even achieved viral success and entered the Billboard charts.

In August 2021, for example, Bad Bunny hopped on Aventura’s “Volví” for a saucy collaboration that earned the renowned bachata group its first Hot Latin Songs No. 1 in over a decade. Three months later, Rosalía teamed up with The Weeknd for the all-Spanish “La Fama,” which debuted and peaked at No. 2 on Hot Latin Songs. The track recently topped both the Latin Airplay and Tropical Airplay lists on the May 14-dated ranking.

In 2022, Colombian urban-pop sensation Manuel Turizo also tested his luck with “La Bachata,” which snagged him his second No. 1 on Billboard’s Tropical Airplay chart — and first as a lead artist — on the Aug. 6, 2022-dated ranking.

Like Bad Bunny, Rosalía, and Turizo, who are predominantly urban and pop artists, acts such as El Alfa, Myke Towers, Natti Natasha, and Maria Becerra have also not shied away from tapping into the sultry, romantic genre.

Below, see 26 artists — spread across 21 songs — who have dropped their very own bachata jam in the past five years:
