Gary Clark Jr. to Perform Stevie Ray Vaughan Tribute at 2023 CMT Music Awards

Four-time Grammy winner and Austin native Gary Clark Jr. has been added to the performers lineup for the 2023 CMT Music Awards. He’ll be delivering a tribute to the Texas blues legend Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Clark’s performance joins the previously announced tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd, as well as performances from Carrie Underwood, Darius Rucker, Carly Pearce and many more.

The CMT Music Awards, hosted by Kane Brown and Kelsea Ballerini, will take place at Moody Center in Austin for the first time, on Sunday, April 2, airing on CBS Television Network and streaming live and on-demand on Paramount+.

Also announced on Friday (March 31), is this year’s roster of presenters. The musicians, actors and athletes set to appear are Pearce, Underwood, Charles Esten, Dixie D’Amelio, Dustin Lynch, HARDY, Ian Bohen + Jen Landon (Yellowstone), Jon Pardi, LeAnn Rimes, Madison Bailey (Outer Banks), Max Thieriot (Fire Country), Megan Thee Stallion, Noah Schnapp (Stranger Things), Parker McCollum, Peter Frampton, Shania Twain, Steve Howey (True Lies) and Travis Kelce.

Vaughan was born in Dallas in 1954, and released six studio albums, beginning with 1983’s Texas Flood. He would become one of the all-time great guitarists, melding the influence of jazz and blues on songs such as “Crossfire” and “Love Struck Baby.” Though Vaughan died in August 1990 in a helicopter crash, his music has continued to inspire artists such as John Mayer and Kenny Wayne Shepherd.

Clark Jr. has earned three top 10 albums on the Billboard 200, including 2012’s Blak and Blu, 2015’s The Story of Sonny Boy Slim, and 2019’s This Land.

The Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute will feature Slash of Guns N’ Roses, Wynonna Judd, Billy Gibbons, Chuck Leavell, Cody Johnson, Paul Rodgers, Warren Haynes and LeAnn Rimes. The tribute performance follows the death of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s final original founding member, guitarist Gary Rossington, who passed away on March 5 at age 71.

Lana Del Rey Lands at No. 1 In Australia With ‘Ocean Blvd’

Lana Del Rey drives straight to No. 1 on the Australian chart with Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd (via Interscope/Universal), her ninth studio album.

With its fast start, Ocean Blvd becomes the U.S. alternative pop singer’s eighth top 10 LP in these parts, and fifth leader following Born To Die (from 2012), Ultraviolence (2014), Honeymoon (2015) and Lust For Life (2017).

It’s one of four new releases impacting the top 10 on the latest ARIA Albums Chart, published Friday, March 31.

Coming in at No. 2 is Luke CombsGettin’ Old (Columbia/Sony). It’s the U.S. country star’s fourth album and fourth top 10 in Australia, following This One’s For You (No. 7 peak in 2017), What You See Is What You Get  (No. 1 in 2019) and Growin’ Up (No. 2 in 2022).

Further down the list, Fall Out Boy’s So Much (For) Stardust (Atlantic/Warner) starts at No. 4, for the reunited U.S. alt-rock veterans’ sixth top 10 effort in Australia. The band’s peak performance to date came a decade ago, when 2013’s Save Rock and Roll hit No. 2.

Also, Australian singer-songwriter Matt Corby blasts into the top 10 with Everything’s Fine (Island/Universal), his third album. It’s new at No. 8. Everything’s Fine is the followup to Corby’s 2018’s LP Rainbow Valley (which peaked at No. 4), and his chart-leading debut from 2016, Telluric.

As it celebrates its 50th anniversary with a reissue project, Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon (Columbia/Sony) roars back into the chart. The 14-times platinum album vaults 220-12, to notch its 103rd week on the chart.

Over on the ARIA Singles Chart, Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” (Columbia/Sony) flourishes for an 11th consecutive week at No. 1, while Ed Sheeran returns to the top tier with “Eyes Closed” (Atlantic/Warner), new at No. 6. Produced with Max Martin and Shellback, and lifted from his forthcoming album Subtract, “Eyes Closed” is Sheeran’s 28th top 10 appearance in Australia, a feat that includes two tracks as a featured artist, ARIA reports.

Jisoo is having some ME time.

The BLACKPINK bandmember steps out for her solo debut with not one, but two songs — “Flower” and “All Eyes On Me.”

Both numbers appear on the single ME, which dropped at the stroke of midnight through YG Entertainment / Interscope Records, and amassed more than 500,000 global pre-orders within two days, according to reps.

Jisoo’s clip blossoms with an official music video stacked with choreographed dancing, fancy hotels, flowers and one luxurious cat.

Coming soon — a record-setting headline performance at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April, which will see Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa and Rosé collectively become the first all-female K-pop group to perform at the famous fest, followed by a date with the Hyde Park British Summer Time Festival in July.

BLACKPINK was one of the biggest acts on the planet last year. Their album Born Pink, which included the hit single “Pink Venom,” debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200 and Official U.K Albums Charts and came in at No. 8 on the IFPI’s year-end global albums chart.

Quavo Continues To Honor TakeOff With New Song ‘Honey Bun’

Today (March 31), Quavo is back with another track dedicated to his late nephew and Migos bandmate, TakeOff, titled “Honey Bun.”

Previously teased earlier this week on Instagram, “Honey Bun” marks the third track released by Quavo since the November 2022 passing of TakeOff. First, he dropped his heartfelt tribute, “Without You,” in early January, commemorating his partner-in-rhyme. Later that month, Quavo teamed with The Maverick City choir to perform the melancholy record at the 2023 Grammy Awards. “I wish I had a time machine/ Just so you take a ride with me/ I miss just how you smile at me/ Unc & Phew until infinity,” sang Quavo onstage.

Then, Quavo continued his output when he dropped “Greatness” last month. The wholesome video spoke on a myriad of topics, most notably the status of Migos, in which the frontman debunked any possibility of a reunion.

“Came in, swept the game like a storm with the motherf–kin’ flow, ni–a Take’ did that (On God) / So don’t ask about the group, he gone, we gone,” raps Quavo.

Despite still mourning the passing of TakeOff, Quavo found time this month to engage in some lighter activities, including his appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s new show That’s My Jam. The hour-long music and comedy variety games show found Quavo singing a “nonsense karaoke” version of Lil Jon and The Eastside Boyz’s 2002 single “Get Low.” Other stars to appear on That’s My Jam include Chance The Rapper, French Montana, Saweetie, Keke Palmer, will.i.am and more.

Check out “Honey Bun” below.
