Camilo and Burger King brought the heat to Billboard Latin Music Week 2022 for a royal takeover like no other.
On Tuesday night, September 27, the superstar, who recently led the ‘La Próxima Generación’ Songwriter’s Academy, brought familiar hits to Billboard En Vivo at Miami’s Faena Forum for an intimate concert experience. The singer was preceded by one of the mentorship program’s rising stars, DJ AUDIOIKO, as well as Puerto Rican singer GALE, who helped warm up the crowd. And closing in at 11 o’clock, the singer kicked off his 45-minute performance, working his way through hits like “Kesi,” “Tutu” and “Pegao.”
However, it was his performance of recent single, “Aeropuerto,” that remained a standout moment as it served as the world-premiere performance of the song. As the lead cut on his recently-released album, De Adentro Pa’ Afuera, the track marked Camilo’s first offering of the 2022 year.

Willow looked ahead to her upcoming performance as musical guest on Saturday Night Live in a new interview on Monday (Oct. 3).
“I’m honestly really, really surprised that I’m going to be on SNL twice in one year, five months apart,” she told Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe. “That’s crazy. I’m really excited. I’m nervous obviously, because being with Camila [Cabello], really, really good friend of mine. There’s that feeling of comfortability there where you can look across the stage and be like, ‘Girl, we’re in this together. We’re doing this.’ I’m not baring my soul alone on the stage. But now it’s going to be me baring my soul alone on the stage, and I’m just so grateful and so excited, but also s——g my pants slightly.”
As she mentioned, the Hollywood progeny’s first turn in Studio 8H was during season 47 as a guest of Camila Cabello, when the pair performed their collaboration “Pyschofreak” off the former Fifth Harmony member’s latest solo effort Familia.
This weekend, she’ll make her follow-up appearance on Oct. 8 as musical guest, opposite host Brendan Gleeson, to promote her album <COPINGMECHANISM> on the second episode of season 48. The new season of the long-running late-night sketch show premiered this past weekend with host Miles Teller and musical guest Kendrick Lamar. Following Willow’s episode with the Irish Paddington 2 actor, Megan Thee Stallion is set to pull double duty on Oct. 15 as both host and musical guest.
Ahead of the Friday (Oct. 7) release of <COPINGMECHANISM>, Willow unveiled track “Split” as the final preview of the studio set following singles “Maybe It’s My Fault,” “Hover Like a Goddess” and “Curious/Furious.”
The singer announced dates for his first stateside swing in almost five years on Monday (Oct. 3), revealing a string of stadium shows slated to kick off on May 6 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX.
Kanye West debuted his Yeezy Season 9 collection during a surprise Paris Fashion Week show on Monday evening (Oct. 3), and the rapper-turned-designer was seen wearing a shirt with “White Lives Matter” emblazoned on the back.
According to Page Six, Ye gave a speech to those in attendance before the models came out wearing the collection. He talked about his ex-wife Kim Kardashian’s terrifying 2016 robbery in Paris, his struggles emerging into the fashion industry, his fallout with Gap and his former manager Scooter Braun.
“I am Ye, and everyone here knows that I am the leader,” he is seen saying in a video circulating Twitter. “You can’t manage me.”
Ye’s decision and reasoning behind wearing the “White Lives Matter” shirt is currently unknown. The racist phrase was widely adopted by neo-Nazi and white supremacist groups in response to the Black Lives Matter movement. Its official website, which has since been taken down, was “dedicated to promotion of the white race and taking positive action as a united voice against issues facing our race,” in its own words, per the Southern Poverty Law Center.
“The fiber and integrity our nation was founded on is being unraveled … [by] homosexuality and [racially] mix[ed] relationships,” the former WLM website used to read. “Illegal immigration, healthcare, housing, welfare, employment, education, social security, our children, our veterans and active military and their rights … are the issues we face as white Americans. The laws and immoral orders the current [Obama] administration are passing are drastically … targeting everything the white way of life holds dear.”
“America is made to enslave us, what they ever gave us?” he proclaims rap-style in a video. “We’d improve. We didn’t show, it’s documented, now it’s cemented, lack future it’s time to invent it. If Ye said it, you know that he meant it. There’s no more Black History Month, every February reminding us that we just barely can vote.”
To change the narrative, Ye declared February Black Future Month. “If we wanna talk about Black history? Who wrote that history for us? They beat down ideas that will keep you enslaved mentally, they target you, they put you in that box to control your mind and to make you fearful,” he said. “I just don’t have no fear left in me so all I got is love. I’ve been waiting for us to take the power in our own hand. I’ve been waiting for us to control our narrative.”
In 2018, he came under fire for some controversial comments he made during an appearance on TMZ Live. “When you hear about slavery for 400 years…for 400 years? That sounds like a choice,” he said in the interview, which he followed up with “Right now, we’re choosing to be enslaved.”
After dating, getting married, and releasing music individually, Camilo and Evaluna Montaner dropped their first-ever collaboration “Por Primera Vez” in 2020, capturing the couple’s heartfelt journey to marriage and sharing many experiences together for the first time. The sweet music video documents the day they tied the knot on February 8 in Miami. Since, the lovebirds have released singles “Favorito,” “Machu Pichu,” and “Índigo.” Needless to say, they are each other’s go-to models in their music videos.
But Camilo and Evaluna’s love story is not the only one that lives in a song.
Argentine couple Emilia Mernes and Duki made their relationship official at the 2022 Premio Lo Nuestro awards, where they performed their single “Como Si No Importara.” On Valentine’s Day, Duki and Emilia joined forces once again in the infectious reggaeton track “Esto Recién Empieza.”
From Camilo and Evaluna to Emilia and Duki, check out other music Latin couples who have collaborated together in celebration of National Boyfriend Day on Oct. 3.
Jay Wheeler & Zhamira Zambrano
One of Latin music’s newest couples, Jay Wheeler and newcomer Zhamira Zambrano joined forces on their first collaborative effort called “Dicelo,” a heartfelt ballad about missing someone after the end of their relationship. The romantic track is accompanied by a music video featuring both artists.
Nicki Nicole & Trueno
Argentina’s sweethearts, Nicki Nicole and Trueno, first collaborated on the 2020 “Mamichula” produced by Bizarrap. The couple recently dropped “Dangerous,” also at the helm of Biza, with a music video that spotlights real-life, homemade footage of the two rappers in love.
Camilo & Evaluna Montaner
Both Camilo and Evaluna have been featured as Billboard’s Latin Artist on the Rise. Though each artist leads their individual career, “Por Primera Vez” marked the first time they collaborated together. In October 2021, the couple announced they were expecting their first child with their feel-good bop “Índigo.”
Greeicy & Mike Bahia
Dating since 2010, Colombian power couple Greeicy and Mike Bahia have collaborated on “Amante,” “Esta Noche,” and “Si Tu Amor No Vuelve,” a reggae version of Binomio De Oro De América’s classic vallenato. Like Camilo and Evaluna, the couple also announced they were going to become parents in “Att: Amor,” released on Dec. 23, 2021.
Duki & Emilia
Lacing Duki’s rap vocals and Emilia’s pop essence, the track is a flirtatious reggaetón single where both artists sing about the beginning of their love story. In the music video, Emilia and Duko share never-before-seen clips of the two on romantic dates.
Jessi Uribe & Paola Jara
In 2019, Colombian artists Uribe and Jara released “Como Si Nada,” flaunting their powerhouse vocals to the beat of Musica Popular Colombiana. Since, the couple has released their collaborative singles “La Conquista” and “La Boda,” a soft bachata narrating their own true love story.
Anuel AA & Yailin La Mas Viral
In March, the couple dropped their first-ever collaboration, titled “Si Tu Me Busca,” which peaked at No. 12 on Billboard‘s Latin Digital Song Sales chart (dated April 16). The couple made their relationship Instagram-official back in January and tied the knot in June.
Rels B & Lali
Though they have yet to collaborate on a track, Spanish rapper Rels B and Argentina pop artist Lali announced they were more than just friends in Rels’ latest single “cómo dormiste?” where he describes their passionate chemistry. The homemade music video, filmed vertically with a cellphone, captures the new Latin power couple enjoying each other’s company.
Guaynaa & Lele Pons
Lele and Guaynaa, who first met in 2019, collaborated for the first time in the summer of 2020, dropping their flirtatious urban track “Se Te Nota.” Three years later, the Puerto Rican singer proposed to the Venezuelan influencer at the 2022 Tomorrowland in Boom, Belgium, during Steve Aoki’s set.
Kim Loaiza & JD Pantoja
The Mexican lovebirds, who are married with two children, have collaborated multiple times, including on their singles “Ámandote,” “13•13,” “Bye Bye,” and most recently, “Incondicional.” The influencers-turned-musicians have mainly collaborated to sing about their love story and family.
Beatriz Luengo & Yotuel
Spanish powerhouse Beatriz Luengo and Cuban musician and Orishas member Yotuel, who wed in 2008 and have one child together, have collaborated many times. Luengo best describes their relationship in her Yotuel-assisted track “Como Tu No Hay Dos.”
One person is being treated at a hospital in Springfield after being shot early Monday afternoon on the parking lot of the McDonald’s near Battlefield and Kansas Expressway.
Police say the victim is suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Officers closed part of westbound traffic on Battlefield while they investigated the incident, which occurred around 1:00 p.m. Monday.
Authorities say a suspect vehicle has been identified, and was seen headed north on Kansas Expressway.
The old adage is true: “It’s not where you start, it’s where you finish.” Steve Lacy’s “Bad Habit” this week becomes the 12th song that entered the Hot 100 at the bottom rung (No. 100) to make it all the way to the pinnacle (No. 1).
This was not an infrequent occurrence in the early years of the Hot 100. From 1958 to 1966, five singles that opened at No. 100 made it to No. 1. But it happened very infrequently for the next several decades – just once in the ’70s, not at all in the ’80s and again just once in the ’90s. But in the last 15 years, it has happened five more times. This brings to mind another old adage: “Everything old is new again.”
Eight of these 12 singles were the artists’ first Hot 100 hits, which you might expect. Stars with a track record tend to get off to a faster start. But Chris Brown, UB40 and Wiz Khalifa had all had No. 1 hits before they opened at No. 100 with a future chart leader. Steve Lawrence had had several top 10 hits before he started at the bottom with the song that would become his only No. 1.
Improbably, one artist (Wiz Khalifa) has done this twice. Both of his No. 1 hits, “Black and Yellow” and “See You Again” (featuring Charlie Puth), entered the Hot 100 at No. 100.
Two of these songs originated in feature films, though those films had very different box-office fates. “See You Again” was featured in the blockbuster Furious 7, the No. 5 grossing film of 2015. UB40’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love” was featuring in the underwhelming Sharon Stone vehicle Sliver, the No. 44 grossing film of 1993.
Here’s the complete list of Hot 100 No. 1s that debuted at No. 100. All dates are the Billboard chart dates.
The buzzy song soars in as the respective British and German artists’ first leader on each list following its first full week of tracking, after its Sept. 22 release.
Plus, OneRepublic‘s “I Ain’t Worried” hits the Global 200’s top five, marking more new heights for music from the Top Gun: Maverick soundtrack.
The two charts, which began in September 2020, rank songs based on streaming and sales activity culled from more than 200 territories around the world, as compiled by Luminate. The Billboard Global 200 is inclusive of worldwide data and the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart comprises data from territories excluding the U.S.
Chart ranks are based on a weighted formula incorporating official-only streams on both subscription and ad-supported tiers of audio and video music services, as well as download sales, the latter of which reflect purchases from full-service digital music retailers from around the world, with sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites excluded from the charts’ calculations.
‘Unholy’ Blasts In Atop Global 200
Sam Smith and Kim Petras’ “Unholy” charges in at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 with 76.7 million streams and 20,000 downloads sold worldwide in the Sept. 23-29 tracking week, following its Sept. 22 release.
Smith and Petras began teasing the single on TikTok in August, with it being used in over 450,000 clips on the platform to date. (Its official video premiered Friday, Sept. 30, with any resulting gains contributing to next week’s, Oct. 15-dated charts.)
Smith notches their first Global 200 No. 1, after previously reaching a No. 32 best with “Diamonds” just after the list launched in October 2020. Petras reigns in her first visit to the survey.
Notably, the last four No. 1 duets on the Global 200 have been by non-U.S. acts. Before Smith (UK) and Petras (Germany), Bizarrap (Argentina) and Quevedo (Spain) led for four weeks with “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 52” beginning in July; Coldplay (UK) and BTS (South Korea) topped the tally with “My Universe” for a week in October 2021; and The Kid LAROI (Australia) and Justin Bieber (Canada) reigned with “Stay” for 11 weeks starting in August 2021. (That run followed Canada’s The Weeknd and U.S.-born Ariana Grande’s one-week rule with “Save Your Tears” in May 2021.)
Plus, songs by acts all from outside the U.S. have topped the Global 200 for 32 consecutive weeks, spanning seven titles (and five countries), both record streaks since the chart began. Here’s a recap:
“Heat Waves,” Glass Animals (UK), six weeks at No. 1, beginning March 5 “As It Was,” Harry Styles (UK), 15, April 16 “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God),” Kate Bush (UK), three, June 18 “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 52,” Bizarrap (Argentina) & Quevedo (Spain), four, July 30 “Pink Venom,” BLACKPINK (South Korea), two, Sept. 3 “Shut Down,” BLACKPINK (South Korea), one, Oct. 1 “Unholy,” Sam Smith (UK) & Kim Petras (Germany), one to-date, Oct. 8
Elsewhere in the Global 200’s top five, David Guetta and Bebe Rexha’s “I’m Good (Blue)” rebounds to its No. 2 high from No. 3; Harry Styles’ “As It Was” falls to No. 4 after a record 15 weeks on top; and BLACKPINK’s “Shut Down” falls to No. 4 a week after it debuted at No. 1. (Thanks to “Unholy” and “Shut Down,” the chart boasts back-to-back No. 1 entrances for the first time since “What’s Next” by Drake and “On the Ground” by Rosé – of BLACKPINK – started atop the March 20 and 27, 2021-dated surveys, respectively.)
Rounding out the Global 200’s top five, OneRepublic’s “I Ain’t Worried” becomes the band’s first top five hit on the chart, rising 6-5, led by a 2% gain to 41.3 million streams worldwide.
The song, which in August marked the Ryan Tedder-fronted group’s first Global 200 top 10 since the chart originated, is one of three to have reached the ranking from the Top Gun: Maverick soundtrack, after Lady Gaga’s “Hold My Hand” rose to No. 37 and Kenny Loggins’ “Danger Zone” hit No. 130, both in June. (The latter, previously released on the original Top Gun soundtrack, became a No. 2 hit on the U.S.-based Billboard Hot 100 in 1986.)
Smith, Petras Also Premiere at No. 1 on Global Excl. U.S.
Sam Smith and Kim Petras’ “Unholy” concurrently debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, with 53.6 million streams and 8,000 downloads sold worldwide in territories outside the U.S. in the Sept. 23-29 tracking week.
As on the Global 200, Smith and Petras each rule Global Excl. U.S. for the first time each; Smith previously hit a No. 39 high with “Diamonds” in 2020, while Petras makes her maiden appearance on the chart.
Also similar to the Global 200, songs by acts from outside the U.S. have dominated the Global Excl. U.S. chart for 30 weeks in a row, covering nine titles (and six countries), likewise record streaks:
“Heat Waves,” Glass Animals (UK), three weeks at No. 1, beginning March 19 “Envolver,” Anitta (Brazil), one, April 9 “As It Was,” Harry Styles (UK), 13, April 16 “Yet To Come,” BTS (South Korea), one, June 25 “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God),” Kate Bush (UK), one, July 16 “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 52,” Bizarrap (Argentina) & Quevedo (Spain), six, July 30 “Pink Venom,” BLACKPINK (South Korea), three, Sept. 3 “Shut Down,” BLACKPINK (South Korea), one, Oct. 1 “Unholy,” Sam Smith (UK) & Kim Petras (Germany), one to-date, Oct. 8
David Guetta and Bebe Rexha’s “I’m Good (Blue)” returns to its No. 2 Global Excl. U.S. best from No. 3 and BLACKPINK’s “Shut Down” dips to No. 3 a week after it opened at No. 1. (Before “Unholy” and “Shut Down,” the chart last welcomed No. 1 debuts in consecutive weeks when Ariana Grande’s “Positions” and Bad Bunny and Jhay Cortez’s “Dakiti” entered atop the Nov. 7 and 14, 2020, tallies, respectively.)
Capping the Global Excl. U.S. chart’s top five, Bizarrap and Quevedo’s “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 52” holds at No. 4 and Harry Styles’ “As It Was” repeats at No. 5.
The Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (dated Oct. 8, 2022) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (Oct. 4).
