Janet Jackson Shares Rare Photo With Her ‘Beautiful Niece’ Paris Jackson

Though Janet Jackson tends to keep matters regarding her family private, she shared a sweet interaction she had with her niece Paris Jackson to social media on Friday (Oct. 7).

The “What Have You Done for Me Lately” singer posted a photo to Twitter and Instagram of herself alongside Paris posing together from the comfort of an animal-print couch. In the image, the 56-year-old is wearing a gray suit jacket with a matching gray tie and white button-up blouse with black pants, while Paris is in a beige slip dress, brown suede boots and round sunglasses.

“So good catching up w/ my beautiful niece @ParisJackson,” the superstar wrote, adding three sparkling heart emojis to her photo caption. Paris returned the love to her aunt, sharing a black heart emoji in the comments section.

The publicly shared moment is a rare one for the aunt and niece. Paris has stated that she tries to remain private about matters regarding her family after receiving criticism for failing to attend the 2018 Billboard Music Awards, where Janet was presented with the Billboard Icon Award for her achievements in pop music. Paris’ brother Prince was in attendance.

“Dear social media followers, friends, stalkers, lovers and haters, and fellow moonwalkers: Please do not tell me/demand/try to control how I handle my relationship with the people in my life, specifically my family,” Paris wrote in an Instagram Story at the time. “As amazing and as s—-y as things can be, it is no one’s business but ours. I understand that some of you feel some sort of connection or need to be apart (sic) of our lives considering you watched us grow up. However, I am handling my situation exactly how my father did. And I am happy keeping it that way. I will always have love and respect for my family. ALWAYS.”

Kelly Clarkson Has Some ‘Fun’ With Her Paramore Cover: Watch

Don’t go crying to your mama — a new Kellyoke has arrived. On the Monday (Oct. 10) episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Kelly Clarkson indirectly celebrated the end of Paramore‘s hiatus by performing an energetic cover of the band’s 2014 hit “Ain’t It Fun” less than two weeks after it announced the end of its five year hiatus.

Shining centerstage under a wash of blue lights, the three-time Grammy winner’s impressive powerhouse vocals were put on full display throughout the entirety of her performance of “Ain’t It Fun” — originally sung by fellow belting extraordinaire, Paramore’s orange-haired frontwoman Hayley Williams. As usual, Clarkson was backed by her band Y’all, who fleshed out the song’s repeating electric guitar hook and full-throttle drums.

“Ain’t it fun, living in the real world/ Ain’t it good, being all alone?” she sang as the members of Y’all rocked out behind her. “Don’t go crying to your mama, ’cause you’re on your own in the real world.”

The “Stronger” singer’s Paramore tribute comes just under two weeks after the band — also comprised of Taylor York, recently confirmed to be dating Williams, and Zac Farro — dropped “This Is Why,” the group’s first piece of new music in five years. Released alongside an accompanying music video, the song serves as both the lead single and title track of Paramore’s upcoming sixth studio album.

Out Feb. 10, This Is Why will follow the trio’s 2017 record After Laughter and its 2013 self-titled fourth album, which features “Ain’t It Fun,” one of the set’s singles. The track reached No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2014 and spent 24 weeks total on the chart, while Paramore debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

In a recent interview, the members of Paramore explained why they took a few years off from making music as a group before coming back together to release This Is Why and embark on a fall 2022 tour, which kicked off Oct. 2. “We realized nothing is worth risking our health,” said York, who revealed that the death of his family friend was one factor that made the band realize it was time to take a break.

“You realize it was at the expense of other parts of yourself,” he continued. “I wanted to explore some deeper parts of myself and figure out why we do this, how it happened.”

“Let’s see what it’s like to not hang our identities on Paramore all the time,” added Williams, who also said she and her bandmates felt it important to be present in Nashville, their hometown, during the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2020 rise of social issues such as Black Lives Matter. “It felt really important for us to be home while so much crazy s–t was happening.”

HARDY Is Releasing a Half Country, Half Rock Album

Mississippi-born singer-songwriter HARDY is aiming to cement his multi-genre success with the release of his forthcoming album, The Mockingbird & The Crow, on Jan. 20, 2023 via Big Loud Records. The project follows his 2020 debut album A ROCK, and over the course of 17 songs on the new album, HARDY will traverse his penchant for both country and rock.

The album’s nearly seven-minutes-long title track serves as a bridge between the two halves of the album.

“It starts with the mockingbird, and the Mississippi state bird is the mockingbird,” HARDY said in a video posted to social media on Monday (Oct. 10). “I’m a mockingbird and I repeat things I’ve heard my whole life, that’s part of my songwriter thing and part of who I am, and the song slowly transitions into the crow, which is the rock n’ roll character that flies his own path, just as the crow flies.”

Over the past few years, the Philadelphia, Miss., native has not only been a writer on numerous chart-toppers for Blake Shelton, Morgan Wallen, Florida Georgia Line, Chris Lane and others (and is the newly minted ACM songwriter of the year winner), but he’s also earned Billboard chart-toppers as an artist in the country realm (with “One Beer” and his work on Dierks Bentley’s “Beers on Me” alongside BRELAND), and rock with a top 20 hit on Billboard’s Hard Rock Songs chart with “Blurry,” followed by a No. 1 hit on that same chart with “Sold Out.”

HARDY offered a hefty preview of the album, releasing three new songs, including the album’s title track, as well as “Truck Bed” and “Here Lies Country Music.” Those songs follow his recent releases, “Jack,” the Lainey Wilson duet “Wait in the Truck,” and “Sold Out.” One of the country songs on the project, “Red,” will feature his friend and collaborator Morgan Wallen.

The album was recorded at Nashville’s Ocean Way studio and Blackbird Studios, with the full of the album produced by Joey Moi, with co-production from HARDY and Derek Wells, and co-production on some songs from David Garcia, Jordan Schmidt, Ben Johnson, Andrew Wade, Jeremy McKinnon and Cody Quistad.

HARDY also recently revealed to fans that he and members of his crew were treated for “significant injuries” following a tour bus accident that happened as they were returning from his show at Bristol Country Thunder in Tennessee. On Oct. 4, he offered fans an update, saying that he and those aboard the bus with him were “mostly OK.”

“I just finished hanging out with Tanner,” HARDY said. “Tanner’s OK, Noah’s OK. I still want you guys to pray for our bus driver, Ricky, who is still not in the clear yet. So if you guys could please pray for him, that would be greatly appreciated … he got a good report tonight, but he needs all the love and all the prayers that he can get.”

HARDY also canceled a couple of shows, including his opening slot for Morgan Wallen’s The Dangerous Tour stop in Arlington, Texas, on Oct. 8 at Globe Life Field, and HARDY’S own show at Flannagan’s in Columbus, Ohio, which was slated for Oct. 13. The Columbus show is being rescheduled for July 1, 2023.

Jack Antonoff Takes Shot at Kanye West Following Rapper’s Anti-Semitic Posts

Add Jack Antonoff to the growing list of musicians who will not sit quietly on the sidelines in the midst of Kanye West‘s latest string of provocative actions. “Kanye a little b—h,” Antonoff tweeted on Sunday night (Oct. 9) with no additional comment about what inspired the diss leveled at the rapper who has repeatedly clashed with Antonoff’s frequent collaborator Taylor Swift.

Twitter removed Ye’s tweet on Saturday for violating the platform’s rules after the rapper wrote that he was going to go “death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE… The funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti Semitic because black people are actually Jew also You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda,” he ended the tweet.

The comment followed Meta’s removal of Instagram posts by West for violating that platform’s policies after he posted text messages between him and fellow rapper P. Diddy claiming he would “show the Jews that told you to call me that no one can threaten or influence me.”

The shot from Antonoff, who is Jewish, joins an increasingly lengthy list of comments from artists and anti-hate groups decrying West’s latest anti-Semitic provocation. His comments — which the Black-Jewish Entertainment Alliance denounced as “hurtful, offensive and wrong” — follows Ye raising eyebroaws last week by wearing a “White Lives Matter” shirt at his Paris Fashion Week show; that “funny” phrase and an affiliated neo-Nazi group of the same name have been deemed a “racist response” to the Black Lives Matter movement by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Meghan McCain Slams Kanye West’s ‘Pathetic’ Republican Supporters Following Rapper’s Anti-Semitic Posts

Days after Kanye West sparked public outrage for his decision to model “White Lives Matter” shirts at Paris Fashion Week, the rapper-turned-designer took his extremist opinions a step further by tweeting anti-Semitic sentiments over the weekend. And while many GOP members have maintained their support of Ye in spite of his recent hate speech, conservative TV personality Meghan McCain was quick to denounce both him and the other members of her political party who are turning a blind eye to his dangerous rhetoric.

Ye’s comments were were removed from his social media accounts, and resulted in the musician being temporarily restricted from using both Twitter and Instagram.

Related

McCain — daughter of late Republican senator John McCain — took to Instagram Sunday (Oct. 9) to share her disgust with the 24-time Grammy winner. “A reminder – antisemitic hate crimes are at their highest levels in America in decades,” she wrote, captioning a screenshot of West’s tweet. “Antisemitic language, rhetoric and statements have become common place in American media, politics and pop culture.”

“It is now normal to hear casual antisemitic comments from sitting members of congress, media hosts, pop culture figures etc.,” she continued. “It is a cancer and it is everywhere. It is an existential threat to American life and our Jewish friends and family both in our country and outside of it.”

The controversy follows Kanye’s racist “White Lives Matter” fashion statement at the Oct. 3 Yeezy runway show, as well as his subsequent targeted Instagram posts aimed at fashion editor Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, Gigi Hadid, Justin Bieber, Hailey Bieber and John Legend. Though the situation earned Ye an onslaught of criticism from fellow celebrities, activists and fashion experts, it also brought him support from Republicans, who’ve largely praised the rapper ever since he publicly endorsed President Donald Trump in 2016.

One of them, Candace Owens, actually posed in a photo with Ye wearing a “WLM” shirt of her own, and the GOP’s official House Judiciary Twitter account posted a tweet reading, “Kanye. Elon. Trump,” something also criticized by McCain, who replied “Take this down now. Idiots.”

“I have zero tolerance for this s–t. Zero,” McCain added in her most Instagram post about Kanye. “This is poison and yet another example why this man and his behavior are trash. Conservatives always claim to hate celebrity but jump and get excited like a teenage girl at a Harry Styles concert any time any of them show our side attention.”

“It is pathetic, we are supposed to be anti celebrity and for the average working men and women – but I guess that went out the window years ago,” the Bad Republican author concluded. “This man is no icon, he has no wisdom I care to hear. Do not look the other way from this statement – it is the public hatred of Judaism and Jews and full fucking stop there is NO place for this anywhere.”

10 Latin Songs Raising Mental Health Awareness

Over the years, music has provided an outlet for Latin musicians to address mental health issues through their songs. For example, Puerto Rican rapper Residente released his autobiographical “René” in 2020, where he frankly opened up about depression and the dark moments in his life.

Bad Bunny’s 2018 “Estamos Bien,” on the other hand, is about putting your mental health first. In the homemade music video, he brings the important message to life, where we see the Puerto Rican singer taking bathroom selfies with an old video camera, painting his nails purple, packing his swimwear, picking up some friends, road-tripping in La Isla del Encanto, and hanging out with locals and tourists at the beach.

Marking World Mental Health Day (observed on Oct. 10), we’ve compiled a list of songs that raise mental health awareness or bring forth any personal struggles — plus, songs about finding the light at the end of the tunnel after inner turmoil.

According to the official World Health Organization website, “the overall objective of World Mental Health Day is to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health.” The day is meant to “provide an opportunity for all stakeholders working on mental health issues to talk about their work, and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide.”

From Aterciopelados’ “Luz Azul” to Diego Torres’ “Color Esperanza” to Residente’s “René,” and beyond, see the inspirational list of songs below:

Kanye West Drops 30-Minute Documentary Featuring Combative New Song: ‘You Don’t Really Love Ye/ Go Listen to Drake, B—h’

Kanye West served up a new anthem combating his haters on Monday morning (Oct. 10), tucking it into a disjointed half-hour video diary in which the controversial rapper again cuts no corners when it comes to speaking his mind and naming names. “You a fake b—h/ You don’t really love Ye/ Go listen to Drake, b—h,” the MC who now goes by Ye raps over a muffled beat as he mouths along while riding in a car. “You don’t have no idea what it take, b—h,” he continues, encouraging fans to listen to Lil Baby or Future if they don’t like what he has to say.

Related

“Trynna pass judgment on me like I ain’t s–t/ I’m too much of a real one for a fake b—h,” Ye raps on the song in which he describes feeling like a fugitive; the track appears unfinished, as it finds West mumbling some unintelligible phrases and getting suggestions from a voice off-camera about which direction to take it.

The low-budget 30-minute video — titled “Last Week” — opens with a hooded, masked figure completing a video game-like series of tasks on the streets of Shibuya, Japan while wearing Ye’s recent go-to outfit of oversized moon boots, jean jacket, black sweatshirt and a black face cover. After reaching the roof of a building, the figure seemingly wins by snagging a white dove that descends from the air as the words “Mission Completed” fill the screen before giving way to a logo that reads “War,” interspersed with a silhouette of Ye and a pair of doves.

The video dropped after a week in which West drew widespread condemnation for wearing a “White Lives Matter” shirt during his Paris Fashion Week show. He continued to stir ire days later with an appearance on Fox News commentator Tucker Carlson’s show — where he doubled-down on the shirt — before moving on to the use of anti-Semitic language in posts that got his social media feeds restricted and which drew widespread condemnation.

In a tweet on Saturday night (Oct. 8), West wrote that he was going to go “death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE.”

“I’m a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE,” he wrote. “The funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti Semitic because black people are actually Jew also You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda.”

While the video steers clear of tackling any of the most recent controversies, following the Drake-baiting it segues into what appears to be a meeting with a fashion industry figure in which they discuss the pros and cons of different fabrics before Ye appears to make an offer to buy the man’s company. The film, shot as if through a round, fish eye-like lens, then meanders to footage of West watching a video about high-nutrient plants and then to an odd segment in which he seemingly shares a pornographic video with a pair of Adidas executives in order to make a point about loyalty. The men, whose faces are blurred out, sit quietly on stools in a white, fashion studio-like space as a rep for Kanye berates them for allegedly taking the rapper’s designs and disrespecting him

“If I’m the king of the culture, I got to step up even if Jay is nailed by the money,” West says at one point during the tense sit-down. “Even if Jay is not Christian… because you’re talking to the king of culture,” he adds, before ominously stating, “This is a different level of nuclear activity that no one will recover from,” before warning that the extreme level of “global warming” the execs will experience will be devastating.

Last week, Adidas revealed that it is reviewing its relationship with West after recent allegations from the rapper that included him calling out Adidas CEO Kasper Rørsted for “blatant copying,” sharing a photo of the brand’s $55 Adilette 22 sandals, which bear a resemblance in color scheme and general feel to Ye’s $70 Yeezy Slides, also produced by Adidas.

“F— ADIDAS I AM ADIDAS ADIDAS RAPED AND STOLE MY DESIGNS,” Ye captioned a screenshot of CNBC‘s tweet reporting the news, which he shared to Instagram; it’s unclear if Adidas decided to reconsider working with West before or after the meeting documented in the film, which was uploaded without any commentary or explainer text.

As he continues to belittle the Adidas team in the clip, West says he will not to talk about money “with people broker than me,” or discussing ideas with people “with lesser ideas than me,” before abruptly leaving the meeting to look at something on his phone. With no clear narrative through line, the doc jumps from footage of Ye getting a massage to film of him rapping the Donda 2 song “First Time in Long Time” in a car.

The film also provides a sneak peek at West’s vision for his secretive Donda Academy Christian schools, with the rapper touring a new potential space for the school in which he asks if the building owners can help in “Dondafying” the space, which means no artificial light, no AC and ramps instead of stairs. The final segment finds West is on the sidelines for daughter North West’s basketball game, fumbling with his phone as he tries to snap a pic and then chatting with ex Kim Kardashian on the sidelines in an extended bit at the end with muted audio.

Watch the “Last Week” video below.
