‘FNF’ Rapper GloRilla Signs With Yo Gotti’s CMG Imprint

On Tuesday (July 5), Yo Gotti’s CMG imprint bolstered its roster after signing “FNF (Let’s G0)” hitmaker GloRilla.

“GloRilla is a natural born star – she has a different sound and approach that’s needed in hip-hop right now,” Gotti tells Billboard. “It’s one of the quickest rises that I’ve seen in my career because she only dropped in late-April and now she has the hottest cultural records in music. Glo is hungry for success and determined to win. We look forward to watching her grow as an artist and reach her full potential.”

Produced by HitKidd, the summer anthem “FNF (Let’s Go)” caught traction in late spring after the TikTok explosion of the #FNFChallenge. Along with sweeping through social media, GloRilla’s raunchy tune earned cosigns from Cardi B, Saweetie, and Latto. The song entered the Billboard Hot 100 in June, peaking at No. 91.

“I’ve put in years of hard work to get this point and I’m blessed to sign with the hottest label in music with CMG,” GloRilla adds. “I manifested this moment and trusted my talent even when others didn’t. I’m grateful for Gotti for believing in me and I’m not gonna let up. Trust that I have more new heat on the way.”

Last May, Billboard highlighted CMG’s impressive hot streak as a formidable hip-hop label. Through its partnership with Interscope Records, CMG boasts 50 Hot 100 hits and 12 top 10 albums on the Billboard 200 chart. Next Friday (July 15), CMG will grace the stage for Gotti’s eighth annual Birthday Bash in Memphis. The concert will take place at the Fed Ex Forum in Memphis.

Adele Reveals She ‘Definitely’ Wants to Have ‘a Couple More Kids’

Adele‘s son Angelo might be getting a new brother or sister sooner or later. In a revealing new interview on the BBC Radio 4 show Desert Island Discs, the 34-year-old powerhouse vocalist opened up about what she envisions for her future, revealing that it’ll hopefully bring along a few more children.

The topic of kids came up when the show’s host Lauren Laverne brought up Adele’s highly publicized 2019 split from Simon Konecki, with whom she coparents 9-year-old Angelo. Laverne speculated that the split must have been a difficult time for everyone involved, to which the “Easy On Me” singer countered, “It was never really tricky. We’re such good friends. Over my dead body is my kid having a messy divorce in his life.”

Much of Adele’s most recent album 30 centers around the aftermath of her divorce, with Angelo making an appearance of his own on “My Little Love” via voice recordings capturing his mother trying to explain her “big feelings” to him. When asked what the life moments captured on her next albums may be, the Grammy winner said, “I definitely would like a couple more kids.”

“It would be wonderful if we can — if not I’ve got Angelo,” she continued. “I just want to be happy.”

By “we,” Adele likely means herself and boyfriend Rich Paul, the high-profile sports agent she confirmed about a year ago that she’s dating. Her current romance was also a topic of discussion with Laverne, with Adele crediting Paul with changing her outlook on staying completely hidden from the public eye when she’s not working. “It used to be two years and I wouldn’t be seen anywhere,” she explained. “I have a whole setup of how I move and no one ever knows, just so I can go out and be completely carefree.”

“I think now, the relationship that I’m in, he’s like, ‘If you wanna go to that restaurant, you should go and try the food at that restaurant,’” she continued. “‘And if you wanna go to this birthday party, then you should be going. You can’t miss out on these things. What’s the worst that could happen?’”

Soul Singer P.P. Arnold Claims in Memoir That Ike Turner Raped Her: ‘It Was Awful’

Singer P.P. Arnold is opening up in her new memoir, Soul Survivor, about a dark period in her career during which she claims that bandleader/songwriter Ike Turner raped her while she was part of his and former wife Tina Turner‘s band. According to The Telegraph, the 75-year-0ld singer born in Watts, Los Angeles joined the Ike & Tina Turner revue in 1965 for a one-year stint during which she performed live and sang backing vocals on Ike-produced songs on the duo’s 1966 River Deep — Mountain High album.

“What can I say? It was awful. I despised Ike on that level, but I didn’t know how to express myself,” Arnold told the Telegraph of the incident she claimed found Ike Turner trapping her in a hotel room before the alleged sexual assault that she had not previously revealed. Turner, who was accused of sexual and physical assault by ex Tina Turner, died at age 76 in December 2007 of a cocaine overdose. “I was told Tina wanted to get rid of me because Ike was after me. If I had run to Tina or called my parents, it would have meant I would have [had] to come home.”

Arnold said she also was afraid to go home out of fear of further violence at the hands of her then-husband, who she described as having a “deep anger.”

She left the band in 1966 at the suggestion of Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger and stayed on in London to record her 1967 debut, The First Lady of Immediate and the following year’s Kafunta, which featured orchestral arrangements from a pre-Led Zeppelin John Paul Jones. Though not as well-known in the U.S., Arnold established a solid career in the U.K. in the 1960s, which included a 1967 cover of Cat Stevens’ “The First Cut in the Deepest,” followed-up in 1968 with a cover of “Angel of the Morning” produced by Jones.

She collaborated with a number of other major English artists at the time, including Rod Stewart, the Rolling Stones’ Jagger, Ron Wood and Keith Richards, as well as the Bee Gees’ Barry Gibb and later served as a backing vocalist for acts including Roger Waters and the KLF. Not only did Jagger champion the powerful R&B/soul singer, but in the memoir she notes that she had a brief dalliance with the Stones icon and his then-girlfriend, singer Marianne Faithfull, who she says “enthusiastically joined” their affair.

“Mick was in heaven but Marianne was more interested in me,” she writes in the book. “I had always been a good kisser and so was she. I tried to let myself go but I was also uncomfortable … ultimately it was Mick that I was infatuated with, not her. There was a plantation feel about it, like I was a plaything.”

She also reportedly claims in the book that she got pregnant, and she and Jagger agreed she should have an abortion, noting that the rock legend sent flowers but did not cut short his holiday to Morocco at the time. The Telegraph reported that a spokesperson for Jagger declined to comment on the report.

Elsewhere in the memoir, Arnold touches on her friendship with Jimi Hendrix and romances with Small Faces singer Steve Marriott and Stewart.

The show, widely considered the standard bearer in Latin music, is the only awards show in the market that honors the most popular albums, songs and performers in Latin music as determined by the actual sales, streaming, radio airplay and social data that informs Billboard’s weekly charts during a one-year period.

The three-hour live award show, which will feature performances by the top names in Latin music, will begin at 8 pm ET, preceded by the one-hour red carpet special “La Alfombra de los Premios Billboard.” The awards will be broadcast simultaneously on Spanish entertainment cable network, Universo, throughout Latin America and the Caribbean on Telemundo Internacional, and on demand next day on Peacock.

Harry Styles’ ‘As It Was’ Back Atop Billboard Hot 100, Beyonce’s ‘Break My Soul’ Hits Top 10

Harry Styles‘ “As It Was” rebounds from No. 2 for an eighth total week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart.

Meanwhile, Beyoncé‘s “Break My Soul” surges from No. 15 to No. 7 on the Hot 100, following its first full week of tracking, marking her milestone 20th top 10 as a soloist.

The Hot 100 blends all-genre U.S. streaming (official audio and official video), radio airplay and sales data. All charts (dated July 9, 2022) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (July 6, a day later than usual due to the July 4 holiday in the U.S. yesterday). For all chart news, you can follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram.

“As It Was,” released on Erskine/Columbia Records, tallied 77.1 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 1%), 18.6 million streams (down 10%) and 5,000 downloads sold (down 14%) in the June 24-30 tracking week, according to Luminate.

The track dips 2-3 after four weeks atop the Radio Songs chart; rises 9-7 on Streaming Songs after two weeks at the summit; and drops 7-8 on Digital Song Sales, following a week in charge.

Notably, “As it Was” scores its record-tying fourth distinct stay atop the Hot 100, after it debuted at No. 1 on the April 16 chart; led again on April 30 and May 7; and added four more weeks on top on the charts dated June 4, 11, 18 and 25, ahead of its return to No. 1 on the new, July 9, ranking. (The songs that have interrupted its reign: Jack Harlow’s “First Class,” April 23 and May 21 and 28; Future’s “Wait for U,” featuring Drake and Tems, May 14; and Drake’s “Jimmy Cooks,” featuring 21 Savage, July 2.) “As It Was” is the fourth to log as many as four separate No. 1 stints, after Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” (2019-22), 24kGoldn’s “Mood,” featuring Iann Dior (2020-21), and Drake’s “Nice for What” (2018).

“As It Was” concurrently crowns the Songs of the Summer chart for a fifth week, as it has led the summery summary, which tracks the top titles between Memorial Day and Labor Day, each week since the 2022 edition began.

Jack Harlow’s “First Class” lifts 3-2 on the Hot 100, after, as noted above, three weeks at No. 1, as it notches a fourth week atop Radio Songs (85.5 million, up 4%). It adds a 10th week atop the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts, which use the same multi-metric methodology as the Hot 100.

Lizzo’s “About Damn Time” jumps 5-3 for a new Hot 100 high, as it rules the multi-metric Hot R&B Songs chart for a seventh week. It also ascends to No. 1 on the Pop Airplay chart, where Lizzo achieves her third leader, after “Good as Hell” (four weeks at No. 1 beginning in November 2019) and “Truth Hurts” (four, starting that September).

Future’s “Wait for U,” featuring Drake and Tems, keeps at No. 4 on the Hot 100, after a week at No. 1, and Drake’s own “Jimmy Cooks” falls to No. 5 a week after it launched at No. 1, becoming his 11th leader. Still, the latter claims a second week atop Streaming Songs, although with a 42% decline to 24.7 million streams. It plunges 9-47 on Digital Song Sales (2,000, down 68%) and is down 13% to 2.6 million in radio reach.

Kate Bush’s 1985 classic “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)” rebounds 9-6 on the Hot 100, after reaching No. 4, fueled by its sync in Netflix’s Stranger Things, as it logs a fourth week each atop the multi-metric Hot Rock & Alternative Songs, Hot Rock Songs and Hot Alternative Songs charts.

Beyoncé’s “Break My Soul” bursts 15-7 on the Hot 100, following its first full week of tracking (June 24-30, after its arrival on Tidal at 9 p.m. ET June 20 and its wide release three hours later). It soars 17-8 on Streaming Songs (16.6 million, after logging 14 million June 20-23) and enters Radio Songs at No. 28 (23 million, following 10.7 million in its first three-plus days), while falling to No. 4 on Digital Song Sales after it opened at No. 1 (11,000, down from 22,000).

Beyoncé banks her landmark 20th solo Hot 100 top 10 and first since Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage,” on which she’s featured, became her seventh No. 1 in May 2020. Beyoncé notches her first top 10 in a lead role since “Formation” debuted and peaked at No. 10 in May 2016.

Here’s an updated rundown of the elite 23 artists with 20 or more Hot 100 top 10s, dating to the chart’s Aug. 4, 1958, inception:

Meanwhile, Beyoncé now has twice as many top 10s as Destiny’s Child, the group in which she broke through: the act notched 10 top 10s (including four No. 1s) in 1998-2005.

Also impressively, Beyoncé joins select company among artists with at least 20 solo top 10s and 10 as a member of a group. The exclusive club, of which she’s the first female member: Paul McCartney, with 23 solo top 10s (including his work with Wings), in addition to 34 with The Beatles; Michael Jackson, with 30 solo top 10s along with 11 as a member of the Jackson 5/Jacksons; and, now, Beyoncé (20 solo, 10 with Destiny’s Child).

“Break My Soul” concurrently becomes Beyoncé’s first No. 1 on the multi-metric Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart (which began in 2013).

Further, “Break My Soul,” the lead single from Beyoncé’s album Renaissance, due July 29, contains elements of Robin S.’s house classic “Show Me Love,” co-written and -produced by Allen George and Fred McFarlane. The latter two talents receive songwriting credit on Beyoncé’s latest and rank in the Hot 100’s top 10 as writers for the first time since “Show Me Love” hit No. 5 in June 1993.

Bad Bunny and Chencho Corleone’s “Me Porto Bonito” pushes 11-8 on the Hot 100, after hitting No. 7, as it tops the multi-metric Hot Latin Songs chart for a seventh week.

Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves” rises 10-9 on the Hot 100, following five weeks at No. 1. It adds its 76th week on the chart, tying for the fifth-longest run in the list’s history (and is the only one of those hits to have ranked in the top 10 at the time of its 76th frame).

Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne Raise a Glass on 40th Wedding Anniversary: ‘Always At Each Other’s Side’

After a pretty rough year filled with a series of medical issues, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne had something very happy to celebrate over the weekend: their 40th wedding anniversary. The heavy metal legend and his wife/manager raised a toast to their four decades of wedded bliss over the weekend with some throwback posts marking their long union.

“40 Years Ago Today! Happy Anniversary My Love,” Ozzy wrote to Sharon in an Instagram post featuring a throwback pic of the all-white outfits they wore for their wedding in Maui, Hawaii in 1982. Sharon posted a more contemporary snap in which the couple model matching all-black outfits in their living room with an equally sentimental, loving note.

“2022 is a special year for me. It marks 40 years of marriage to my darling Ozzy. We first met when I was 18, over 52 years we have been friends, lovers, husband & wife, grandparents and soulmates. Always at each other’s side. I love you Ozzy,” she wrote. The couple have three children together, daughters Aimée and Kelly and son Jack.

The happy day came just weeks after Ozzy, 73, gave fans the first update following a major surgery to reportedly remove and realign pins in his neck and back from a previous tied to a 2003 ATV accident. “I am now home from the hospital recuperating comfortably,” read a statement from Ozzy on June 15. “I am definitely feeling the love and support from all my fans and send everyone a big thank you for their thoughts, prayers and well-wishes during my recovery.”

In Jan. 2020, after telling fans he was battling a type of Parkinson’s disease, Ozzy also described a horrible fall at home that re-aggravated an old neck and shoulder injury from the 2003 ATV accident. He said the slip dislodged metal rods surgically implanted in his body after the accident, resulting in 15 screws being placed in his spine.

See Ozzy and Sharon’s posts below.
