Here Are All the Hot 100 Records That Drake Has (And Hasn’t) Broken

Every recent Drake release brings its share of Billboard chart history, and his newest LP Honestly, Nevermind is no different.

Drake has shattered longstanding chart records over the past several years, reaching new highs with each new project. He even ranked as Billboard’s No. 1 Top Artist of the 2010s.

On the latest, July 2-dated charts, Honestly, Nevermind blasts in atop the Billboard 200, and the set’s “Jimmy Cooks,” featuring 21 Savage, launches atop the Billboard Hot 100. He’s the first solo male to debut atop the Billboard 200 and Hot 100 in the same week twice; his Certified Lover Boy and “Way 2 Sexy” soared in atop the respective surveys dated Sept. 18, 2021. (Taylor Swift is the only other act with multiple such starts, with a record three.)

Meanwhile, Drake adds yet another record to his repertoire as he ties The Beatles for the most top five hits in the Hot 100’s history: 29 each. The Beatles had been the sole owners of that record for 55 years. Along with the top five record, Drake also holds the records for the most top 10, top 20, top 40 and overall Hot 100 entries, dating to the chart’s Aug. 4, 1958, inception.

As Drake makes more history, here’s a look at all the Hot 100 records that the superstar has broken in his career, and those he hasn’t (yet).

Most Top Five Billboard Hot 100 Hits: 29 (tied for the record with The Beatles)

Most Top 10 Hot 100 Hits: 58

Most Top 20 Hot 100 Hits: 99

Most Top 5 Hot 100 Debuts: 19

Most Top 10 Hot 100 Debuts: 43

Most Top 20 Hot 100 Debuts: 76

Most Top 40 Hot 100 Debuts: 124

Most Consecutive Weeks Spent on the Hot 100: 431 (2009-17)

Most Simultaneous Top 5 Hot 100 Hits: 5 (on the Sept. 18, 2021-dated chart, matching The Beatles, April 4, 1964)

Most Simultaneous Top 10 Hot 100 Hits: 9 (Sept. 18, 2021)

Most Simultaneous Top 20 Hot 100 Hits: 14 (Sept. 18, 2021)

Most Simultaneous Hot 100 Hits: 27 (July 14, 2018)

Most Top 10 Hot 100 Hits From One Album: 9 (Certified Lover Boy)

And now, here are some of the most notable Hot 100 records that Drake hasn’t broken — at least so far:

Most No. 1 Hits
Drake has tallied 11 No. 1 hits on the Hot 100 in his career, the most among rappers. Among all artists, though, he’s tied with Whitney Houston for the seventh-most after The Beatles (20), Mariah Carey (19), Rihanna (14), Michael Jackson (13), The Supremes and Madonna (12 each).

Most Cumulative Weeks Spent at No. 1
Drake has spent a combined 54 weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100 in his career. That’s the fourth-most, after Mariah Carey (87), Rihanna (60) and The Beatles (59).

Most Cumulative Weeks Spent in the Top 10
Drake has spent 334 total weeks in the top 10 of the Hot 100 (combining the totals of all his 58 top 10s), the second-most after Rihanna (360).

Most Consecutive Weeks Spent in the Top 10
Drake spent 51 consecutive weeks in the Hot 100’s top 10 in 2015-16, thanks to “Hotline Bling,” Rihanna’s Drake-featuring “Work,” “Summer Sixteen” and “One Dance,” featuring WizKid and Kyla. That’s the fourth-longest unbroken run in the top 10, after Katy Perry’s 69-week run in 2010-11, The Chainsmokers’ 61-weeks in 2016-17 and Justin Bieber’s 59 weeks in 2021-22.

Most Weeks Simultaneously Topping the Hot 100 & Billboard 200
Drake has doubled-up atop both charts simultaneously on eight different occasions in his career, the third-most of all time after The Beatles and Whitney Houston, who have doubled for 12 weeks apiece.

Most No. 1 Hits in a Calendar Year
Drake biggest year, in terms of No. 1 singles, was 2018, where he scored three of his 11 No. 1 hits: “God’s Plan,” “Nice For What” and “In My Feelings.” The record for the most No. 1 hits earned in a calendar year belongs to the Beatles, who earned six in 1964: “I Want To Hold Your Hand,” “She Loves You,” “Can’t Buy Me Love,” “Love Me Do,” “A Hard Day’s Night” and “I Feel Fine.” (Notably, Drake scored a fourth leader, though uncredited, in 2018, on Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode.” Drake is heavily featured on the one-week No. 1 hit, but is not officially credited on the song. Therefore, it does not count towards his official chart history.)

Song With the Most Weeks Spent at No. 1
Drake’s longest-running No. 1 hit is “God’s Plan” (11 weeks in 2018). Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road,” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, holds the all-time longevity record, with 19 weeks spent at No. 1.

Song With the Most Weeks Spent in the Top 5
Drake’s longest-running top 5 hit is “God’s Plan” (22 weeks). The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” holds the record for the most weeks spent in the region, with 43 weeks.

Song With the Most Weeks Spent in the Top 10
Drake’s longest-running top 10 hit is “God’s Plan” (26 weeks). The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” holds the record for the most weeks spent in the region, with 57 weeks.

Song With the Most Weeks Spent in the Top 20
Drake’s longest-running top 20 hit is “No Guidance” (Chris Brown featuring Drake) (31 weeks). The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” holds the record for the most weeks spent in the region, with 80 weeks.

Song With the Most Weeks Spent in the Top 40
Drake’s longest-running top 40 hit is “No Guidance” (Chris Brown featuring Drake) (44 weeks). The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” holds the record for the most weeks spent in the region, with 86 weeks.

Song With the Most Weeks Spent on the Billboard Hot 100
Drake’s longest-running hit is “No Guidance” (Chris Brown featuring Drake) (46 total weeks). The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” holds the record for the most weeks spent on the chart, with 90 weeks.

As “Jimmy Cooks” debuts at No. 1 on the Hot 100, Drake adds his 29th career top five hit, tying The Beatles for the most in the chart’s 63-year history.

Drake also extends his own records for the most top 10s (55), top 20 hits (93), top 40 hits (148) and total entries (263).

All charts dated July 2 will update tomorrow (June 28) on Billboard.com.

Kendrick Lamar Closes Glastonbury With Blood-Soaked Call for Women’s Rights

Kendrick Lamar closed this year’s Glastonbury Festival with a powerful headlining set that saw him chant “Godspeed for women’s rights” as fake blood poured down his face from a crown of thorns.

Lamar, 35, ended his new song “Savior” by chanting “they judge you, they judge Christ. Godspeed for women’s rights” before dropping his microphone and walking off the stage at the music festival Sunday.

The dramatic protest came two days after the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to strip away women’s constitutional protection for abortion.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning rapper was among big names including Diana Ross, Billie Eilish, Paul McCartney and Bruce Springsteen to feature at the festival in southwest England, which welcomed back 200,000 music fans for the first time since 2019 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Ross, 78, treated the crowds to hits including “Baby Love” and “You Can’t Hurry Love” earlier Sunday, while McCartney, 80, performed Beatles classics and newer material during a two-hour set on Saturday.

McCartney duetted with Springsteen, and thanks to technology, he also sang a duet of “I’ve Got a Feeling” with remastered vocals from the late John Lennon as footage of Lennon was played on large screens.

In all, 3,000 performers played at the four-day festival, which celebrated its 50th anniversary.

Ricky Martin Offers a Sneak Peek of New Music Video & Gets a Visit From Teen Son on Set: See Pics

Ricky Martin had a busy weekend shooting the music video for his upcoming new single. Offering a sneak peek to his millions of fans on social media, the Puerto Rican star shared a behind-the-scenes photo of him in action.

“In this photo, a little tease of what the video of my next single is going feel like,” Martin wrote in the post. “It was a really long day, but everything flows amazingly well when surrounded by the right group of people. Nothing but love and light throughout the day. The energy felt strong.”

According to his post, the clip for the new single was directed by Carlos Perez, who’s a go-to director for Latin acts such as Luis Fonsi and Wisin & Yandel. On set, Martin was also accompanied by a special guest: his 13-year-old son Matteo. “Look who decided to come with me to record my new video,” he captioned a photo of his son giving him a thumbs-up.

The “Tiburones” singer also hashtagged the word “#Play,” the name of his upcoming set, which is the second part to his Latin Grammy-winning EP Pausa. “I’ve created two separate albums. Pausa is more chill and relaxed,” Martin told Billboard back in 2020 when he released the first part of his project. “The second one called Play has more upbeat music.”

Besides working on new music, Martin is busy with television projects as well. In May it was reported that the singer and actor will be the male lead in Mrs. American Pie, a new Apple TV+ comedy series. The cast will also include Kristen Wiig, Alison Janney and Laura Dern, who is executive producing the show. Set to play Robert in the 10-episode series based on the novel by Juliet McDaniel, Mrs. American Pie is Martin’s first television project since Ryan Murphy’s drama The Assassination of Gianni Versace on FX, in which he played Antonio D’Amico.

Brandy Reveals How Her Surprise 2022 BET Awards Performance Came About: ‘I’ve Had a Rap Dream for Years’

Don’t call her Brandy no more — call her Your Highness. On Sunday night (June 26), the Vocal Bible took the BET Awards to church by performing her “First Class” freestyle with Jack Harlow. And after leaving the stage, she opened up about how the surprise number came together.

“First of all, I can’t believe what just happened,” the icon told Entertainment Tonight backstage. “I didn’t know the crowd was gonna be excited … Oh my god, they were in it, and just, I’m so thankful to Jack because he gave me this great opportunity to, like, be a rapper. Like, I’ve had a rap dream for years.

“I’ve been wanting to rap forever,” she continued. “And everybody was like [grumbles], ‘Everybody just wants to hear you sing’ or ‘Don’t do rap.’ But I’m like, I love rap. I love hip-hop, I love all of that, so …”

Later in the interview, Brandy spilled the tea on how she managed to pull off the big surprise, explaining, “Jack didn’t really realize that my brother [Ray J] and I were siblings on a radio show … And then from there it, like, caused all this noise. And I didn’t catch the noise until like five days later. But I was like, ‘Oh my god.’ So I sent out a tweet in joking saying, ‘I could take this guy on a rap.’ And I was like, ‘Oh my god that’s hip-hop, I kinda have to back that up.’ So I put out a freestyle and Jack loved it and was like, ‘Let’s do it on the BET Awards.’”

Even before Brandy crafted her rapid-fire freestyle, Harlow’s latest single bowed at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, where it has spent three non-consecutive weeks trading off the top spot with the likes of Harry Styles’ “As It Was” and Future’s “Wait For U” featuring Drake and Tems.

BTS’ J-Hope Reveals the Title of His Solo Single, Teases Upcoming Album With New Photos

If you can’t get enough of BTSJ-Hope, congrats — he’s about to give you more. Literally. The 28-year-old K-pop star star is about to embark on his solo adventure, with a debut album coming later this month, led by a single, whose title was revealed on Monday (June 27) on his social media.

The song — titled “More” — and album, which is called Jack In The Box, were first announced two days ago with a posting to Weverse that described the project as representing J-Hope’s “aspirations to break the mold and grow further.” It made him the first of the seven BTS boys to announce a solo album following their recent statement they’d be scaling back full-band commitments, with Jack in the Box following J-Hope’s 2018 seven-track mixtape Hope World.

And though the album title, the album release date, and the single’s release date (July 15 and July 1, respectively) were included in that initial announcement, the singer-rapper has only just unveiled the single’s title. “MORE ?” he simply wrote in an Instagram post, sharing four images featuring him standing alone in a slanted hallway.

He later posted several other concept photos of him wearing what appears to be a floppy black jester’s hat, staring into the bright-flash camera from different spots. The single’s title was also confirmed in a tweet on BigHit’s Twitter account, reading: “1st Single ‘MORE’ Track Release 2022.07.01. 1PM KST.”

But wait, there’s more. J-Hope also revealed concept art for Jack in the Box: a bird’s eye view photo of him standing in a teal box, wearing a white suit and the same black hat as he presses one finger to his lips. “2022 07/15 Open a Box,” he captioned the post, which also included four other photos of the performer posing in the brightly colored box.

Check out J-Hope’s announcements and concept photos for “More” and Jack in the Box below:

Here Are All the Performances From the 2022 BET Awards: Watch

Black art, culture, and pride were all on brilliant display Sunday night (June 26) at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater, where the 2022 BET Awards were held. Celebrating African American contributions to entertainment across film, TV, and music, the show made sure of two things: that several attendees were honored with prestigious awards, and that viewers were treated to an all-star lineup of show-stopping performances.

Kicking off with a glittering opening performance from Lizzo — who came armed with her signature flute and fleet of backup dancers as she performed her Billboard Hot 100 top five hit “About Damn Time” — the BET stage featured numerous main performers and even some surprise guest artists. Latto brought out none other than Mariah Carey for a surprise mashup of her blockbuster track “Big Energy” and “Fantasy”; Jack Harlow joined forces with Brandy for a live collaboration on his No. 1 single “First Class”; and Diddy was joined by one great after another, from Mary J. Blige to Lil Kim to Busta Rhymes for a career-spanning set.

And after his star-studded performance concluded, Diddy went on to accept the year’s lifetime achievement award with a speech that reminded his audience just how important it is to support one another. “We ain’t here just for ourselves,” he said in his speech. “We’re here for our ancestors.”

“I have this dream of us unifying, not just talk on this stage, but us. We know our community and our allies — if you with us, don’t be silent,” he said. “Put some money in the game, put some fight in the game, because we’re at war, you feel me? The last shall be first, and the first shall be last. We gotta unify.”

Latin Pride 2022: Joy Huerta on Redefining Her Career as a Queer Artist

In spring 2019, Joy Huerta of the Mexican pop duo Jesse y Joy opened up to her fans, penning a heartfelt letter where she shared, “I never thought that the love of my life would be a woman, 7 years ago we met and love took us both by surprise.” She also announced that she and her partner were expecting their first baby together.

“As a pop artist who started out in Latin America, coming out meant redefining my whole career,” she tells Billboard. “It redefined me as a person and my music as well.”

For the 35-year-old Grammy and six-time Latin Grammy winner it’s always been important to empower whoever sings her lyrics — which is why she celebrates Pride Month with songs such as “Love (Es Nuestro Idioma).” “I can’t separate my craft from who I am, so my craft has always been as true to myself as can be,” she notes.”

Joy wraps up Billboard’s series featuring queer Latin artists who are helping reshape their genre. Learn more about her below:

How have you helped create tolerance in your genre?

Aside from being an advocate for my LGBTQ+ community, I believe that every queer artist in my industry and any other industry is pushing for and creating tolerance just by being fully open about who we truly are. Being openly queer isn’t only pushing for tolerance; it’s also a path of resistance.

As a queer artist, how have you helped reshape your genre?

As a pop artist who started out in — a still very conservative/traditional in many ways — Latin America, coming out meant redefining my whole career. Not only among my peers but mainly among the public and my fans. It redefined me as a person and my music as well. I want to think that as a mainstream artist in LATAM it helped pushed the boundaries of my genre.

How did accepting your queer identity impact your craft?

It’s always been important for me to empower whoever is singing my lyrics, whether a breakup song or a love song. But to know that my music also gives a voice to my LGBTQ+ community, it’s something that has made me feel more responsible when I’m writing a song. I wrote a song called “Love (es nuestro idioma).” Not only was it written with love, but also with a purpose, a video that celebrates and embraces diversity — but most importantly, it shines a light on and brings attention to the fact that still to this day there are many countries that don’t punish conversion therapy. I can’t separate my craft from who I am, so my craft has always been as true to myself as can be.

This year I’ll be celebrating Pride by …

Spending the day with my family, forever grateful to those before me who fought endlessly for equality, pushing doors and boundaries, losing their lives for love to be seen as love between two people of the same sex.

What’s your all-time favorite pride anthem and why?

I love “I Want to Break Free” by Queen. It’s a song I can relate to. And I think we all can, we all want to break free from something at a moment in our lives.

Here Are 10 of Drake’s Most Candid Lyrics on His New Album ‘Honestly, Nevermind’

Like most Drake albums, Honestly, Nevermind fixates on what happens with love: when it ends, when it begins and the messy middle passage in between. The 14-track offering — which landed Drake his 11th No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 —  is laced with a number of dance- and Caribbean-inspired beats, and only includes one feature (21 Savage on “Jimmy Cooks”). Amid the frank, status update-worthy love lyrics on the album, he also makes room to address his haters on “Sticky.”

There are many intricate moments on the album which, true to the set’s title, encapsulate a theme of telling the brutal truth. On the album’s description on Apple Music, Drizzy explains what he tried to accomplish with Honestly, Nevermind: “I know everyone that tells me they love me doesn’t love me all the time especially when im doing better than alright & they have to watch it from whatever point they at in their life… I got here being realistic. I didn’t get here being blind. I know whats what and especially what and who is by my side.”

He also adds in blunt details about his work ethic: “That’s some real detrimental s–t but that’s that s–t my perfectionist mind doesn’t really mind because no one knows whats on my mind when I go to sleep at 9 & wake up at 5 – unless I say it in rhyme,” he writes. In an effort to help decipher the truth in these songs, we’ve deciphered 10 of Drake’s most honest lyrics on Honestly, Nevermind.

1. I can’t strеss about no b–ch ’cause I’m a timid soul
Plus I’m cookin’ up ambition on a kitchen stove
Pot start to bubblе, see the suds, that s–t good to go (“Jimmy Cooks” feat. 21 Savage)

With some assistance from 21 Savage, Drake is blunt about his shy demeanor — which, this time around, isn’t about being charming, but rather more conducive to focusing on himself, and not on women.

On this track, he’s calling out faux models who would never stroll down designer catwalks or make it to the pages of high fashion magazines (he was probably inspired by all of the world’s Instagram girls who have millions of followers seemingly for no reason). In this juncture, Drake is candid about his hunger for success and firing up his ambitions. His pursuits aren’t romantic, and his admissions aren’t about heartbreak either, but it’s more so all about him.

2. I can’t even remember when we lost each other
Was it last year? This year? Or some other?
Been so long since you said things that cover up the lies (“Texts Go Green” )

Through a mélange of Caribbean-infused Afrobeats, the Toronto native ponders when exactly a relationship sank in deep waters. It’s been a while and he isn’t too trusting of what this particular woman has to say. He’s caught her in some lies, as his emotions were drifting away into numbness as she departed from his heart and consciousness. It seems like he doesn’t care to hear from her — not even via a “how u doin” text.

3. What can I do for you, how can I makе a difference?
Friendship and loyalty, that’s not what it’s giving
Giving that, “Why would I keep you around?” (“A Keeper” )

Drake is questioning a lover’s purpose and space in his life. For Aubrey, it feels like she isn’t “the one” anymore. Because, well, he’s got different inspiration now: “I found a new muse,” he asserts. Let’s just say his curve game is strong.

4. You’re my water, my refresher
Take off your clothes, relieve pressure
I need your touch when I’m with her
My heart, it beats different rhythm (“Calling My Name”)

Someone is caught in a love triangle here. Drake is lost inside his carnal desires and yearns for that special touch from his side-chick. It isn’t fair to his main squeeze, but to him it’s valid. This special girl takes away the mundane stressors of life while she also pleases Drake’s sexual urges. This whole situation is hurtful to the person on the receiving end, but at least it’s honest.

5. Lila
I know it’s getting late
And I’m struggling to let go
Although there’s distance between us
There’s no place I’d rather be
Owe you some hospitality
And it comes so naturally (“Flight’s Booked”)

It doesn’t get more transparent than namedropping who the subject of your song is. Futuristic synth smooth out his love note to “Lila.” It’s endearing because it’s reminiscent of the intoxicating stages when you’re first getting to know that special someone — spending hours talking on the phone, or getting butterflies in your stomach when you’re about to see that person.

6. Then they thought they had the trap set for me
How you really think that went for me?
N—as gotta do a fact check for me (“Sticky”)

Not every Drake song is about love and heartbreak. He’s keenly aware of his status in the game, and doesn’t hesitate on reminding his foes on here. If they think he was going to get caught in their malicious spider-webs, they were mistaken. He knows things get complicated, but Drake doesn’t fixate on the distractions.

 7. Hold the line, we ain’t done
Don’t give up this divine bond between us
I’m hanging on, but you don’t see
It’s a phase we’ll overcome, my love (“Overdrive”)

Here he details a love story that is sinking in murky waters. Things are getting real, but Drake is certain that this is temporary. This relationship is too important for him to let go, and he knows it’s worth fighting for. He’s puts his ego aside and masterminds how to make this partnership work. These are the troublesome candid moments we all can relate to; that’s the Drake effect — being honest about his, and your emotions.

8. You get in my bed, you twist up my head
I’m changing for you, changing for you
You die with the lie
You lie and a piece of me dies (“Liability”)

Dark and somber beats engulf Drake’s Auto-Tuned rasp, as he admits that lies are killing him. It all sounds like an open wound that refuses to heal. Yet, its message is all too relatable, and perhaps the realest on this whole album.

9. I see us fadin’ away
I’m still holdin’ my breath for the day that you will
See that the effort I make is too real (“Falling Back”)

Like most Drake songs, this small vignette would make for excellent Instagram captions and/or tweets. This is where we put so much effort into someone who doesn’t appreciate or recognize it. It’s hard to admit because it hurts, yet the pain becomes the truest thing about the experience.

10. I used to wonder how you could swear it’s for life
Constant confusion, nearing conclusion, going downhill
We spent last summer, we spent last summer so differently (“Down Hill”)

The anticipation of a breakup is probably more heartbreaking than the actual split: even more so when one partner realizes it’s over before the other. Sure, we can try, yet when it’s all said and done it’s destined to be over — and Drake recognizes that.
